Cizik School of NursingatUTHealth Houstoninvites applicants for full/part-time, tenure, or non-tenure clinical track positions at the Assistant Professor level in theDepartment of Nurse Anesthesia.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The faculty member will train and supervise nursing students in the specialty area of Nurse Anesthesia. The candidate may conduct a scholarship in a field of research, will participate in clinical practice, and provide service to the school and the university. Responsibilities will include clinical supervision, clinical simulation, and/or didactic teaching and may include other administrative activities as well.
POSITION KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Participates in the development of curriculum.
Attends course planning meetings.
Communicates with course faculty about student assignments, requirements, and progress.
Evaluates student’s progress, performance and provides timely feedback in compliance with established course protocols.
Identifies problems and consults with course faculty to develop strategies to resolve them.
Serves as a professional role model and resource for students.
Promotes compliance with student/university policies.
Provides direct patient care activities through clinical practice opportunities with affiliated hospitals and other healthcare organizations.
Shows a strong potential for developing a funded program of scientific research as well as maintaining a teaching workload (Faculty on the tenure track)
Maintains a relevant area of scholarship (Faculty on the clinical track)
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
DNP or PhD.
Eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse and advanced practice recognition in Texas.
EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of one year full-time nurse practice experience.
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
Previous experience in leadership/management, education (clinical or didactic teaching), or clinical simulation within nurse anesthesia.
Strong clinical background and teaching experience.
For tenure-track faculty, preference will be given to those who have completed a funded post-doctoral fellowship or to those who have a history of Federal funding as a primary investigator.
Experience with a course management system.
CERTIFICATION/SKILLS:
NBCRNA certification as a CRNA
Willingness and ability to teach in advanced pharmacology and physiology courses
Recent clinical anesthesia experience in an acute care setting
Assigned active clinical anesthesia practice as faculty
Ability to function in a cohesive educational team model
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students and faculty.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
