About the Position:

Plant Tire Development Engineer is responsible for planning and executing the Plant Tire Release Process:

  • Coordinate/Plan development workload

  • Troubleshoot product/process opportunities

  • Maintain established process documentation/evidence - Lead new product industrialization (NPI) audit requirements

  • Support the manufacturing process and product quality by applying appropriate Goodyear standards/procedures to solve problems

  • Seek solutions to technical problems, conducts work on assigned tasks and exhibit a significant level of knowledge/expertise

  • Utilize/Apply an understanding of customer requirements (internal/external) that are relevant to multiple process areas

  • Understand/Influence customers from various functions

  • Lead the application of technical solutions to meet product/process requirements

  • Network & consult with other technical experts to improve processes and solve problems.

  • Apply expertise to anticipate problems and develop solutions with appropriate tools/methods that deliver defined objectives which meet business needs

  • Disseminate techniques to anticipate/mitigate risks

Responsibilities:

PLAN AND EXECUTE THE TIRE RELEASE PROCESS:

  • Carry out activities that involve facilitating development tire builds, issuing product, process or material specifications, analyzing data, and conducting process and equipment trials.

  • Work on teams to industrialize new products to meet requirements.

  • Avoid inappropriate levels of risk.

  • Develop and advise others on processes within functional group.

  • Engage in external collaboration and cross-divisional processes.

  • Internally/Externally advise others on evolving technologies.

  • Ensure transfer of projects/functions.

PROBLEM SOLVING:

  • Anticipate/Identify problems proactively.

  • Develop/Advise on new problem solving strategies.

  • Use collaboration to solve problems and make decisions.

  • Develop new tools/methods to solve problems.

  • Identify external resources of value to Goodyear.

  • Collect data/inputs to make decisions.

  • Consult with resources.

  • Make decisions based on facts.

  • Consider alternatives and rule out unlikely outcomes.

  • Advise others on novel processes.

  • Identify high-impact projects and implement solutions.

  • Develop innovative solutions to large complex technical problems.

  • Develop/Advise on new data analysis techniques cross-functionally.

QUALITY ASSURANCE:

  • Use known and develop new tools/standards for project execution.

  • Execute, develop and advise necessary steps and activities for project execution.

  • Deliver to project objectives.

  • Provide expertise/advice that adds value to project planning.

  • Advise on lessons learned.

  • Develop/Advise/Use creative approaches to execute projects.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering or related field required

Experience:

  • 2+ years of engineering experience.

  • Tire development experience desired.

  • Tire manufacturing experience desired

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to utilize advanced scientific methodologies.

  • Fundamental understanding of scientific principles.

  • Ability to form strong working relations with Goodyear associates & customers.

  • Ability to collaborate & work in a cross functional setting.

  • Ability to adapt to new challenges
