Oldcastle Building Envelope has an exciting opportunity for an Automation Technician to join the team at our Terrell, TX facility. We are looking for a motivated, hands-on leader who wants the opportunity to make a positive impact on the operation and improve our processes throughout the plant. This position will drive improvements in both our Fabrication and Metal Processing areas, which includes multiple CNC machining centers, two Extrusion Presses, Electrostatic Paint and Anodizing Lines. Focus areas include future expansion and automation projects. The Manufacturing Engineer Tech II is responsible for driving the realization of process improvement concepts to a real world implemented solution. The major emphasis in the position is the technical support of the Fabrication and Metal Processing equipment, tooling, work instructions, process/method definition and floor support for the Terrell facility.
Heres What Youll Get To Do * This role is the facilitation link between plant engineering, production management and production personnel driving desired process change to successful completion. * Provide support to management and production in day-to-day operations through troubleshooting equipment, quality, and safety departmental concerns. * Review assigned project objectives, design and implement finish product (tooling, fixturing, process equipment modification) that meets and exceeds internal customer requests. * Complete documentation of process/equipment change to ensure compliance with all OBE standards. * Work with Contractors, vendors, and internal customers to facilitate project completion. * Work closely with plant engineering to scope, cost, and implement capital projects. * Assist with plant engineering or maintenance on projects involving process control, hydraulics, pneumatics, programmable controllers, compressors, and construction. * Collaborate with departments to determine root cause of failures or rejects and implement Poke Yoke to eliminate issue. * Analyze statistical data and material flow to ensure process stability. * Gather and analyze machine performance data, recommend maintenance schedules or processes to maximize OEE. * Perform other job duties as assigned.
Heres What Were Looking For * Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering OR equivalent work experience * Strong computer skills - high level of proficiency with AutoCAD, Inventor, and MS Office - their related functions and application. * Experience with Allen Bradley PLC and HMI programming and troubleshooting a strong plus. * Hands-on experience in problem-solving. * Provide technical support for machines and equipment daily and on an as-needed basis including participation in tech support call-in schedule rotation. * Experience with equipment reliability / computerized maintenance management software to drive world class up-time through preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, targeted engineering changes, and tailored on-hand spare parts a plus. * Organized, self-starter with the ability to handle numerous projects, prioritize workload and work with minimal supervision. * Must be able to communicate effectively and conduct themselves professionally, excellent written and verbal co munication skills. * Ability to think outside the box - innovative in daily responsibilities as well as project work.
