Actalent Process Engineer in Terre Haute, Indiana

Job Title: Manufacturing Process EngineerJob Description

We are seeking a dynamic Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our world-class operations team. In this crucial role, you will drive continuous improvement, optimize production processes, and ensure the highest standards of safety and quality. You will be part of a dedicated team working with blown film/extrusion lines to achieve technical excellence and productivity at the Terre Haute facility.

Responsibilities

  • Champion safety initiatives across all operations, making it our number one priority.

  • Lead and participate in World Class Operations Management teams, driving process improvements for quality, waste reduction, and productivity enhancement.

  • Utilize advanced problem-solving techniques to investigate and resolve ongoing production challenges.

  • Develop and conduct training programs for machine operators on new equipment and procedures.

  • Maintain and optimize standard operating conditions to ensure consistent manufacturing processes.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide round-the-clock technical support to production.

  • Partner with supervisors, production crews, and maintenance teams to troubleshoot issues and implement lasting solutions.

  • Evaluate projects and waivers to minimize downtime and optimize product development efforts.

  • Work closely with project engineering to facilitate equipment modifications that boost productivity and reduce waste.

  • Document and implement procedures that safely increase efficiency while maintaining product quality.

  • Mentor and supervise engineering co-op students, providing guidance and performance evaluations.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering Technology, Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering preferred).

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in a process/manufacturing/industrial engineering environment.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.

  • Experience with data collection, failure mode analysis, root cause analysis, lean manufacturing, 5 Why methodology, Kaizen, continuous improvement, and process improvement.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience with continuous improvement methodologies, quality systems management, statistical process control, and project management.

  • Experience in packaging engineering.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Flexographic Printing Exposure.

  • Experience working within a union-based environment.

  • Ink Chemistry Exposure.

Work Environment

This role involves spending 85% to 95% of the time on the floor monitoring specific work cells, and 10% to 15% creating and reviewing process plans. The facility consists of approximately 550 hourly employees and 80 salaried employees, with a projection of adding 25 to 30 salaried employees and 100 hourly employees by the end of 2024. The work schedule is a day shift starting at 7:00 AM and ending at 3:30 PM EST, with a 40 to 45 hour work week from Monday through Friday, and rare Saturday work. The work culture is strong with low attrition within engineering, a casual dress code, and company events. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $40.87/hr.
