About you and this role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for aManufacturing Cost Accountant (m/f/d). This position is located inTerneuzen (The Netherlands).

Dow Hydrocarbons purchases and processes feedstocks for use in Dow's global operations, and work to identify alternative and renewable feedstock sources.

The Manufacturing Cost Accountant will oversee and manage overall financial and cost analysis related to the Crackers, the Aromatics and Butadiene units located in Terneuzen.

You ensure accounting activity recorded within the company’s records and books are accurate and complete. You are responsible for budgeting, product costing, recording, reporting, analyzing and communicating functional/business activity results. You assist the function/business management teams in financial analysis necessary for decision-making using in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in Accounting and basic knowledge of related finance disciplines.

In this role, you will require in-depth conceptual and working knowledge of your discipline or functional area. You will need to understand your discipline's best practices and how they relate to others. You may need to lead small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements as well as serve as a resource for less experienced colleagues. You should also be able to explain difficult or sensitive information and work to build consensus with others.

It is your responsibility to analyze and resolve complex problems, examine information from multiple sources, and use judgement to evaluate established and new solutions. Your performance impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities within your own team and other related teams and requires that you work within established guidelines and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Records, monitors, reports, and communicates function/business results, and ensures activity is accurate, complete, and compliant to accounting standards and best practices

  • Completes product costing of materials, reviews for variances, and corrects/communicates results to business/plant management

  • Performs product inventory reviews and fixed asset reviews

  • Provides financial analysis to function/business management teams as needed for project studies, options analysis, and productivity/benchmarking measurements, and establishes and maintains an ongoing working relationship with other sub-processes and functions

  • Helps facilitate the budget setting process and monthly/quarterly estimate process

  • Demonstrates technical accounting ability through at least six years of directly applicable experience and acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience

  • Helps drive change to reduce complexity in existing work processes and leads small projects with manageable risks and resource requirements

  • Uses customer/client information to improve work processes

  • Identifies root causes of issues and discovers and implements practical solutions

Qualifications

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus on controlling, finance, accounting, or similar discipline

  • You already have 3+ years of professional experience in controlling and cost accounting in a manufacturing company.

  • You have an excellent written and oral communication skills across all levels and are a team player.

  • You have good proficiency in written and spoken English. Dutch proficiency is a plus.

  • You have experience in working with ERP systems (SAP)

  • You have strong analytical skills.

  • You have the ability to work legally in the Netherlands.
