Summary

Be at the forefront of SRP’s innovation as a member of our Power Delivery team. Your role as a Principal Engineer will regularly provide support to SRP’s Transmission Structures by utilizing PLS-CADD analysis and conducting peer and 3rd party reviews. This role is pivotal in the generation and delivery of sustainable and flexible power to the Valley of the Sun.

What You'll Do

  • Act as advisor and mentor to less experienced Designers and Engineers

  • Perform design reviews

  • Perform lead role in structural engineering for Transmission Structures

  • Lead special project estimating and scoping

  • Perform optimization analysis and project scoping; considering standard and non-standard structure and materials to meet the planning and project needs, while also meeting SRP standards, specifications, construction and maintenance needs.

  • Candidate must be familiar with the PLS-CADD suite of software including proficiency with advanced FE/SAPS modeling techniques including as-built wire system modeling. Experience with TOWER and ASCE 10 required.

What It Takes To Succeed

Responsible for budgets, schedules, and management of resources for programs and projects of major scope. Demonstrated network of internal and external contacts including customers, outside agencies, and suppliers of significant equipment and services. Occasional travel to suppliers' facilities, industry functions, and SRP facilities. Ability to work effectively with various organizations within SRP. Ability to use engineering tools required for the job. Must have a valid driver's license.

Education:

EITHER I OR II

I - Completion of a bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited curriculum, an International Engineering Alliance (IEA) recognized institution or ABET Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA)

And

  1. Additional specialty training (MS Engineering, MBA, or 18 graduate level college semester hours from an accredited institution in an engineering related field)

OR

  1. Any state or internationally recognized Professional Engineering registration by the International Professional Engineers Agreement.

II - Any state or internationally recognized Professional Engineering registration by the International Professional Engineers Agreement.

And

Additional specialty training (18 graduate level college semester hours from an accredited institution)

Experience

Ten (10) years full time professional experience actively engaged in engineering practice.

Must have demonstrated the successful accomplishment of work as defined for this position.

Contributed to the authoring, publishing and/or presenting of internal or external technical papers.

Testing and Certifications

Must possess the appropriate valid Arizona driver’s license.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week.
