Job Description

As the Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Group Leader in the Phoenix metro area, you will lead and inspire a dynamic team of technicians, managers, and laboratory staff. In this pivotal role, you will oversee a dedicated group providing top-notch materials testing, special inspection, and quality assurance services for critical construction materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, masonry, structural steel, and aggregates. Your leadership will be key in driving the growth and development of your team, setting high performance standards, ensuring operational excellence, and delivering seamless project execution.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Monitors and manages the group’s project performance, employee utilization and workload, identifying potential areas of improvement and implementing plans to maximize efficiency.

  • Oversees project management, quality control, and project execution with the group to ensure successful completion of projects.

  • Encourages professional development for employees by helping them identify individual goals, outlining performance expectations, recognizing accomplishments, and providing productive and consistent feedback.

  • Communicates with group members regularly to keep the group informed and aware of initiatives, goals, and objectives within the group and team to ensure accountability.

  • Ensures high client service orientation through consistent and effective communication with clients.

  • Oversees marking efforts for repeat clients and coordination with business development on new client pursuits, including client strategy, proposal process, interviewing, and selection efforts within the group.

You bring to the team:

  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to contribute and work well on a team

  • 8+ years of relevant experience

  • 4+ years of experience supervising staff

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field

  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, a relevant associate degree with equivalent experience is required

  • A valid driver's license with a good driving history

  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
