About you and this role

The position is part of the Process Automation Discipline within TES (Technical expertise and support) organization, covering Light Hydrocarbons Process Automation Application Business Focused Team areas of responsibility.

As a Process Automation Engineer you will apply technical knowledge by providing automation solutions for the chemical process equipment involved, work process, unit operations, operating condition or process technology improvements.

We need someone who has a passion for implementing automation solutions to improve plant safety, reliability, sustainability and profitability.

Responsibilities

You will be assigned meaningful and challenging activities, that will introduce you to the Process Automation LHC BFT at Dow, completing the following tasks:

• Ensure PA discipline design deliverables meet the needs of the project: process automation is safe, meets DOW LPP’s and other EH&S requirements, reliable, functions as intended, following LHC PA Conventions and Standards with high productivity, on time and within budget.

• This role may also be involved in Safety Integrity Level (SIL) determination, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and designing or modifying the basic process control system (BPCS).

• Program control applications for various distributed control systems. Develop operator graphics. Write simulation applications in order to verify functionality of the control program and for training plant operators.

• Obtain basic knowledge of unit operations and Chemical Engineering fundamentals.

• Identify technical problems and proactively seek improvement opportunities that promote greater functionality, safety, reliability,¡ in partnership with stakeholders and engaging the business technology center and SME network.

• Participate regularly on multi-functional teams to develop innovative automation solutions.

• Engage in projects in different geographies / locations.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Automation Engineer preferably, or Civil Engineering or Material Science / Metallurgical Engineer .

• Good communication (written and verbal) in English and Spanish is required.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point), Microsoft Outlook is also recommended.
