The Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, or PCICU, internship is an opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills to transition into the PCICU setting. Our PCICU is for the care of critically ill children. The PCICU is dedicated to providing compassionate care to seriously ill children, with a child-friendly and family centered care focus.

We are seeking motivated, mature, self-directed professionals who are interested in growing in a dynamic team and making a difference.

The Clinical Nurse II independently cares for a group of patients consistently using the nursing process and clinical standards. Delegates appropriate patient care activities to other members of the health care team. Is responsible for professional accountability and development. The CN II performs the role of preceptor and charge nurse when assigned.

Preferred experience includes 1 year RN Acute Care experience.

Internship Details:

The internship will start on January 2025 and is a total of 24 weeks in length.

The internship will include:

• Didactic course training combined with one-on-one preceptor

• Guided clinical orientation to ensure up-to-date and comprehensive care

• Interns will gain experience on both day and night shift before being assigned a permanent shift. The shift will be nights.

Please note: There is an hours-based commitment required for the internship program specifically to the unit of hire beginning at the end of the program.

Graduate Nurses must be licensed prior to the start of the program to be eligible. All Clinical Nurse Residents must be licensed by before the start of the program.

Required Qualifications:

• Registered Nurse license

• BLS

• Associate’s degree in nursing

Preferred Qualifications:

• Pediatric RN experience

• 1 year RN experience in acute care

• PALS

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing
