The non-required LMS (Learning Management System) and Experience Application Business Owner ensures that the non-required learning system (Sana) aligns with organizational goals, enhances the overall BMS learning experience, and meets enterprise learning needs for the learning professional and the learner. This is a crucial role in driving successful implementation governance and utilization of the system across the organization as a core element to our learning technology ecosystem.

Serves as the System Business Owner, subject matter expert (SME), and advocate for the enterprise learning experience. Their primary objective is to achieve business goals, enhance learner experience, and drive process and administrative standardization, sustainability, scalability, and simplification of the platform.

This individual plays a critical role in the organization by overseeing the strategic direction of the non-required learning platform (Sana) to meet Enterprise Learning goals. This individual will partner and collaborate closely with the HRIT DCM as Business Owner, Content Integrity team within Enterprise Learning Services (ELS), as well as various functional teams; ensuring efficient resource utilization within the application and driving continuous improvement by identifying areas for enhancement to optimize the platform to distribute and engage with learning.

Key Responsibilities and Major Duties

Business Owner , Subject Matter Expert (SME), Business Partnering

  • System Ownership & Decision Making. Serves as the primary decision-maker, business contact, and accountable individual for the Sana platform as well as defines the system’s vision, goals, and roadmap aligned to organizational objectives. Drive standardization, sustainability, and scalability for the Sana platform.

  • Data Custodian & Data Integrity ensuring quality, accuracy, and consistency within the platform. Collaborate with appropriate data governance teams and workers councils.

  • Create and maintain training materials, resources, and support for the platform.

  • Supports capability demonstrations and knowledge transfer of platform to other ELS team members, and relevant stakeholders.

  • Lead projects on behalf of Enterprise Learning Services (ELS) team, in support of all learning stakeholders and in partnership with HRIT for the Sana platform.

  • Escalation point for critical issues or decisions to senior leaders when necessary.

  • Characterize the needs of stakeholders and develop an applicable change management plan for any changes, upgrades, or integrations (through M&A or BAU) with the Sana platform.

  • Creation, maintenance, communication, and training on standard operating procedures and best practices for the Sana platform.

  • Support Functional Digital Learning Solutions Partner(s) in ELS to consult/coordinate work with internal and external resources in the utilization of the Sana platform.

  • Partner with and influence senior learning and functional leaders in addition to their reporting structures to drive organizational commitment, adoption, and utilization of the Sana platform per enterprise standards and best practices.

  • Align with Functional Digital Learning Solutions Partner(s) to ensure Sana is meeting business needs and standards are being adhered to for content development, tagging, storage, and assignment/deployment.

  • Collaborate closely with and provide direction to content development vendor partner(s) to assist with content-related deployment, operations, or service issues and/or requests.

  • Provide escalation support for platform or content issues deployed through the Sana platform (Tier II).

  • Lead business requirements gathering for any changes related to Sana.

  • Partner with HRIT to create and maintain a yearly roadmap for platform investment and improvement to meet enterprise needs.

  • Partner with HRIT to ensure Sana is available to appropriate local or global audiences and all required Security & Data Privacy reviews are followed.

  • Develop UAT approach and Lead UAT of system upgrades and projects.

  • Partner with ELS team and business for annual learning content and platform review and audit.

  • Partner with procurement for vendor team member’s onboarding, performance, and capability enhancement, if vendor utilization is applicable.

  • Author myBMS knowledge capital in support of self-service model as applicable.

  • Chair applicable internal forums (i.e., Sana Enhancement Board) for the Sana platform on inclusive involvement across enterprise learning groups to support knowledge dissemination and change pull-through.

  • Partners with Vendor(s), BU learning leaders, PSLT, Learning Council, Finance, HRIT, HRBPs, COE organization as and when needed to maintain and improve learning operations and ensure enterprise learning needs are met.

List of minimum requirements

  • BA/BS degree required

  • 5+ years of professional experience in pharma IT, working as a learning technology system owner, contributing to business strategy and operations.

  • Ability to influence and serve as a trusted partner to business and matrix partners

  • Ability to think strategically and drive strategic planning across stakeholders

  • Demonstrated strong project management skills, including managing timelines, budgets, stakeholders, and deliverable development

  • Experience engaging with and driving technology-supported (i.e., IT) initiatives

  • Demonstrated ability to design, develop and support the implementation of enterprise, global processes and technologies

  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with internal and external clients from all levels, and to facilitate discussions

  • Experience in designing, developing, and delivering learning platforms and operational processes

  • Ability to set objectives, monitor and achieve for performance, and ensure high level of engagement and commitment

  • Demonstrates ability to work effectively in complex, fast paced environment with competing priorities.

  • Demonstrates ability to manage multiple, broad scope, complex learning initiatives using both internal and external resources

  • Customer service oriented. Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of non-technical users, managers, directors, and executive leadership in a creative, matrix organization

  • Passionate about their work and understands how it fits into the business operations

  • Able to translate business requirements into workable solutions and solve potentially complex problems

  • Knowledge and experience in Instructional Design methodologies is preferred.

  • Superior attention to details, problem solver, strong organizational skills

  • Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tools (i.e.: ServiceNow, SalesForce)

Working Conditions

  • Travel Required (nature and frequency) - 10%

  • Overnight Absences Required (per typical month) -Approximately 3-5 days per quarter
