Must have the following to apply:
Minimum one 2+ years of HSE related work experience within the maritime/industrial work environment
Various OSHA competent person courses (confined space, fall protection, GHS, etc.)
Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills
Willingness to obtain OSHA 10 and 30 Maritime Train the Trainer Certification
First Aid / CPR Certified
Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, preferred
Knowledge of maritime/industrial work environments
Ability to identify hazards/risks, to implement best workplace corrective actions
Skills and experience implementing safety processes based on broader organizational goals
Knowledge of applicable OHSA, EPA, USCG, DOT state and federal standards, regulations, laws and orders
Must be able to enter confined spaces to perform shipyard competent person checks
Duties and Responsibility: Marine Health, Safety and Environmental Technician is responsible for monitoring and supervising environmental and safety management programs. The HSE Technician will be focused on daily, weekly, monthly, and annual activities essential to compliance and continuous improvement of HSE performance.Employees in this job perform and complete a variety of professional assignments involving the review, investigation, analysis of workplace health, safety and environmental operations, and production methods in the construction and preservation areas of the maritime industry. Adhering to the HSE rules and regulations are appropriate for providing a safe and healthy work environment for employees while ensuring environmental sustainability. The HSE Technician will report to the HSE Manager to assist with facilitating and implementing the company's HSE program and compliance with applicable regulations. The emphasis is on working to develop and implement a safety-first culture, including training to achieve desired objectives and mitigate risks.
Team building interaction with field employees, management, subcontractors, and client
Perform documented on-site risk assessments and audits and implement corrective actions
Ensure operations and subcontractor personnel have planned their work and all hazards have been recognized and mitigated
Participate in documented weekly safety meetings with employees contractors, and subcontractors
Perform field monitoring and sampling such as light, noise, visual emissions and gas detection
Investigate, provide detailed reports and track all incidents and near misses then help provide solution to prevent reoccurrence
Study, implement and enforce company HSE policy and program as well as state and federal regulations
Provide support to operational personnel ensuring all risks are addressed
Update all required inspection logs for company and client pertaining to HSE programs such as SDS, First Aid Stations, Spill kits, Competent Person, etc.
Provide input to help develop, update, and maintain HSE Plans for site specific tasks: Lift Plans, Fall Protection Plans, JSA's and Severe Weather Plans
Ensure PPE is available for use and trade in/purchase program is followed
Provide 1st Aid, CPR, and be a 1st responder to emergencies as needed
Environmental awareness and recordkeeping such as spills, pollution prevention, cradle to grave disposal for hazardous waste
Review evaluate and analyze existing workplace procedures and HSE management systems then identify reas of improvement and provide feedback
Conduct new hire orientation and respiratory fit testing as needed
Complete miscellaneous assignments and projects as assigned
