Job Title: Maintenance Reliability Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Maintenance Engineer to provide technical expertise and support for day-to-day equipment troubleshooting and maintenance operations. This role involves managing smaller capital projects, conducting cost analysis, and ensuring the long-term performance of plant equipment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong ownership of equipment reliability and will contribute to the development of specifications and commissioning plans for new equipment.
Responsibilities
Assist operations and maintenance with troubleshooting equipment malfunctions by providing technical expertise and engineered solutions.
Manage smaller capital projects, ensuring technical expertise, cost management, and startup support within the project schedule.
Take a hands-on approach to repairing, replacing, or redesigning equipment as it begins to fail.
Demonstrate ownership of equipment reliability within an assigned plant area/unit, ensuring safety, environmental, and operational success.
Conduct cost analysis to weigh pros and cons of various options and their impact on plant operations.
Participate in the development of design and installation specifications and commissioning plans for new equipment.
Evaluate equipment and technical MRO suppliers and technical maintenance service providers.
Lead continuous improvements for Refining Department Safety, Quality, and Throughput from routine analysis.
Organize and manage multiple projects and tasks to ensure high quality and timely service to all internal and external customers.
Establish and maintain Key Performance Indicator (KPI) metrics and standards, maintaining data for KPI reports.
Provide training on new equipment installations.
Update documentation (drawings, procedures, reference files) based on equipment modifications or replacements.
Plan and perform engineering research, design development, or manufacturing/process engineering assignments, with a focus on reducing downtime.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college or university.
3+ years of engineering experience in an industrial site or engineering consulting.
Knowledge of mechanical, instruments/controls, pneumatics, and hydraulic systems.
Leadership skills in a highly dynamic environment, promoting a positive team atmosphere and continuous improvement culture.
Strong written and verbal communication and conflict resolution skills, ensuring team cooperation.
Strong project management skills, including time management, action planning, task prioritization, attention to detail, and meeting deadlines.
Highly self-motivated and directed, able to work well under pressure with a sense of urgency.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with heavy industrial equipment machinery.
Reliability Engineering experience, including predictive technologies like vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, and infrared technologies.
Work Environment
The core hours for this role are 6AM-5PM, with any 8-hour block within those times. This position is fully onsite. The day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing downtime and uptime data to identify problems, understanding plant priorities, and troubleshooting efforts on machines such as conveyor belts, screw conveyors, bag houses, and pumping systems.
