Position summary:

The Director, Value Stream Operations Excellence will serve as a key leader in ensuring the alignment of operational excellence strategies, foster continuous improvement, and enhancing overall performance within the Pharma and Lens Care Manufacturing Plants. This position will collaborate closely with multiple sites globally and various functions across the Global Product Supply business unit to drive towards common operational business systems. This person will report to the Vice President, Manufacturing with an indirect relationship to the Director, Operational Excellence.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead/facilitate continuous improvement efforts across the respective Operations Business Unit in collaboration with all GPS functional leaders including, but not limited to Distribution, Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, Procurement & Safety along with other VSL/OpEx leads.

• Provide strategic guidance to enhance operational excellence maturity, linked to strategic goals, while working collaboratively with other OpEx leaders to leverage best practices (internal and external).

• Works effectively and partners with cross-functional leaders to identify opportunities and actively drive and/or facilitate improvement activities for the value stream.

• Employ a disciplined approach to address challenges quickly & effectively while driving towards a common standard of sustained excellence across sites.

• Coaches, Facilitates, and Educates continuous improvement techniques and skills with the intent to train the trainer and create a learning organization.

• Collaborate with the leadership team to drive transformation of the GPS organization achieving higher performance results.

• Foster alignment and increase organizational effectiveness by promoting constructive and collaborative relationships.

• Drive a standardized, sustainable process of cost improvement projects (savings) to improve unit cost and achieve increased Gross Margin for the business.

• Advocate for all sites in the business unit to leverage a common set of operational standards leveraging best practices, including, but not limited to: Six Sigma and Lean methodologies, Dash boards (Metrics), Manage for Daily Improvement (MDI), Monthly Business Reviews (MBR), Strategy Deployment Planning (SDP), Cost Improvement Project (CIP) planning, governance and tracking.

• Based on business needs, provide targeted on-site support to improve performance and/or reduce impact in an autonomous capacity.

Qualifications and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical/engineering/business management field; advance degree preferred.

• Minimum of 8 years of leadership experience, demonstrating increased level of responsibility preferably within manufacturing or supply chain business unit.

• Experience with project management, driving Continuous Improvement initiatives while leveraging Lean / Six Sigma (LSS) methodologies.

• Must be a results-oriented champion and practitioner of commonly used LSS tools/framework.

• Results oriented leader who can autonomously operate in a decentralized, matrixed environment, with strong political acumen and influencing skills.

• Experience leading, collaborating and motivating teams in a multi-cultural business environment with teams dispersed globally.

• Experience developing business cases and demonstrated ability to link operational performance metrics to financial metrics.

• Strong leadership presence, exceptional communications/interpersonal skills, and the ability to motivate/manage at all organizational levels.

• LSS Black Belt certification with completed projects resulting in value return (savings).

• 25-35% travel will be required.
