Nexstar Media Group Digital Content Special Projects Producer in Tampa, Florida
WFLA News Channel 8's Digital Content Special Projects Producer understands the latest tools and trends available for creating specialized content for all digital platforms. This could include CSS, some coding, graphics and interactives for developing unique ideas for news and sales. This person knows the ins and outs to maintain the station's website, apps and social media accounts.
Responsibilities will include:
Design/develop page layouts and functionalities for special projects
Process data for special projects as necessary
Will be "super user" on WordPress, including configuration/layout of WFLA's site (creating widgets, pages and shared pages, navigation, etc).
Troubleshoot and resolve issues within WFLA's digital systems/platforms, which may include coordination and communication with corporate digital team
Brainstorm and develop tools to streamline WFLA's digital processes
Implement corporate digital content initiatives
Coordinate integration of WFLA's content sources, including local livestream sources, Weather Co., Associated Press, Newsticker, election data, etc.
Create social graphics for multiple platforms including templates for social posts, graphics, missing persons, most wanted, and RIP
Edit videos for website or social media and knowledge of Akta video setup
Working with marketing, promotions and sales to set up contests, experts, and community pages
Fill-in as DCP (publish stories, rank, implement live streams, etc)
Performs other duties as may be assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in journalism, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work-related experience preferred
Minimum two years' experience in a digital role in a television newsroom preferred
Highly experienced with CMS and other publishing platforms
HTML/XML programming expertise
Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, etc
Understand use of FTP client
Knowledge of OBS functionality a plus
Highly collaborative, proactive, detail-oriented
Impeccable grammar and spelling, and ability to write interesting, understandable copy.
Fluency in English, excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Ability to multi-task, deal with extreme deadline pressure, and react/coordinate coverage under live breaking news situations is crucial.
Ability to work extended hours, as needed
