Job Summary:

The Corporate Banking Middle Office Loan Trading AVP is responsible for supervising the primary and secondary loan trading settlement process including funding and documentation workflow. In addition, this role is instrumental in overseeing third-party agency trades. The team is responsible for providing daily operational support to our Syndications, business lines and trading desk teams. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of loan trading activities, which directly impacts the bank’s profitability and client satisfaction.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Communicate effectively with members of the back office and front office teams to ensure accurate and timely completion of daily loan trade settlements.

  • Review the LSTA standard loan trading documents, including Trade Confirmations, Assignment and Agreements, and Funding Memos, prepared by the team’s Analysts in accordance with the procedures.

  • Review the calculation sheet for interest and fees prepared by the team’s Analysts.

  • Oversee the Analysts’ communication with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Review, approve, and sign (if applicable) daily trade settlements.

  • Work closely with department managers, Front and back offices to provide services outlined in the SLA.

  • Ensure work is completed to the highest of standards and seek opportunities to identify areas for process improvements and added controls.

  • Ensure adherence to internal SLA’s, risk metrics and Bank’s internal policies/requirements.

  • Anticipate and identify potential issues arising from the daily operations, address them preemptively, or escalate them appropriately for timely resolution.

  • Coordinate with the team manager to complete internal and external audits when requested.

  • Oversee the Analyst to coordinate pre-closing requirements with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. Portfolio Management, Syndications, Credit, Loan and Agency Services, Finance, Legal, and Back Office).

  • Review and approve facility and fee booking in the Bank’s internal systems.

  • Perform other ad-hoc tasks related to Loan trading when requested.

  • Execute best practices of control, risk mitigation, and escalation.

  • Ensure all the cases are closed in ServiceCloud.

  • Review periodic reconciliation reports prepared by the Analysts.

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years corporate banking experience and strong knowledge of loan trading products.

  • Knowledge of Banking Regulations and Standard Practices, knowledge of LSTA (Loan Syndications and Trading Association) is preferred.

  • Ability to review and interpret credit agreements.

  • Ability to identify high-risk operational gaps, propose and implement risk mitigants.

  • Ability to solve problems, make good judgments and work under minimum supervision.

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

  • Prior supervisory experience with a proven skillset to identify talent and lead the team.

  • Prior experience working in a credit middle office or loan operations team a plus.

  • Experience with market standard loan trading platforms such as ClearPar, Bloomberg, Sentry, and OVS is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of MS Office applications.

  • Strong presentation skills.

  • Proven ability to collaborate with team members and senior management in a respectful manner.

  • Strong attention to details with analytical mind.

  • Ability to perform under high pressure and high-volume environment and produce results.

  • Ability to multi-task through strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Proven history of strong work ethics and office conduct.

  • Commitment to perform at the highest level at all times.

The typical base pay range for this role is between $80K - $100K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
