Based in the Tampa, Florida area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position. To succeed in this role, you will need to plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. Candidates who know how to effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services will do well in this role along with creative types who can lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. What you get to do every day
Complete tasks beyond formal job responsibilities
Reviews deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports
Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management
Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis
Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation
Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis

Requirements - Excellent verbal, written, and social communication skills
Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
Strong analytical skills, accuracy and attention to detail
Microsoft Excel experience
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines
Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus
Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision
Detailed and have the ability work independently
Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued
Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
