The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated Business Applications Analyst – Mid Level to join our PICASSO and Document Administration System team. This is your chance to be part of modernizing P&C by helping create and maintain systematic business requirements and rules in support of P&C’s policy communications sent to our membership and other third-parties. You will act as a strategic partner to align business and technology and influence design decisions to ensure seamless integration of communication tools and processes across the organization including PICS, MDComms, Claims, Distribution, Auto, Property, Umbrella, BASE, and International to align with the company’s objectives around pricing with precision and improved member experience. As an ideal candidate you will have a mix of project management experience within technical development life cycles, a risk and controls focused mindset, and Property and Causality insurance knowledge in order to proactively manage support for current and future integrated document determination systems for multiple P&C applications.
Provides proficient analytical, business, and technical knowledge related to specific business functions, processes, and applications/IT platforms. Works independently to create, implement and maintain application solutions to meet the needs of a business or organization. Proposes changes to business processes to better align to business need.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX, Plano, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Colorado Springs, CO, Charlotte, NC, Chesapeake, VA or Tampa, FL. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
What you'll do:
Evaluates business needs and reviews system requirements for accuracy; translates data between business users and technical developers.
Collaborates with internal stakeholders to understand business needs and opportunities specifically related to application/IT platform solutions.
Provides intermediate to complex analysis, supporting the planning and implementation of systems and upgrades, and process changes.
Participates in analyzing and documenting business requirements for application/IT platform and data systems, including testing and implementation of new systems or changes to current system as required to meet contractual needs and improve processes.
Reviews new or upgraded application functionality with business partners (including training) to help them prepare appropriate training and procedures updates for their teams.
Performs and may coordinate business and application/IT platform support; analyzes discrepancies and system failures.
Facilitates and performs resolution activities to minimize business impact and avoid future exposure; informs team leadership and business partners of business implications associated with those events and develops recommendations to mitigate future impact.
Maintains proficient understanding of business processes, supporting applications/IT platform, and strategic direction.
Collaborates and exchanges information with team members, stakeholders, and information services to ensure dependencies, risks, and opportunities are identified.
Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
4 years of work experience in analyzing IT business processes, software application/IT platform design and/or IT documentation, with an understanding of application/IT platform data systems and operations processes.
Demonstrated understanding of application/IT platform administration and the software development life cycle, to include testing execution.
Experience in developing and maintaining documentation related to workflow and business requirements, as well as technical functionality of IT applications/IT platform.
Knowledge of risk & controls with experience identifying and fixing gaps, documenting controls and testing of those controls.
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
Successful completion of an analyst assessment may be required.
What sets you apart:
US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner [optional].
Experience in ODM or any business rules engine and/or ability to modify Tableau dashboards or other visual analytics platform, JIRA/Rally or other project management tools and frameworks (Agile, Waterfall, Lean, Six Sigma etc).
2+ years of experience in Property and Casualty policy services and products offered (auto, homeowners, umbrella) and/or verified CPCU designation.
Experience with document creation or processing systems in a regulatory environment.
Familiarity with IT coding languages such as JAVA, Gosu, C++, SQL, Python, CSS, HTML and experience in the maintenance of databases.
Effective at establishing key relationships and collaboration across P&C.
Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $77,120 - $147,390 .
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
