Aston Carter Accountant in TAMPA, Florida
Job Title: AccountantJob Description
Under the direction of the accounting team, the Accountant is responsible for a variety of accounting functions and review of staff work, ensuring compliance with the company’s system of internal controls, policies and procedures, and GAAP.
Responsibilities
Maintain a thorough understanding of the general ledger structure and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Prepare and post journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded.
Assist in the month-end closing process, including account reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
Generate and send out invoices to customers, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Manage accounts receivable, including tracking payments and following up on overdue accounts.
Prepare and send out Notice to Owners as required for construction projects.
Handle AIA billing, ensuring all documentation is accurate and submitted on time.
Maintain and update the schedule of values for construction projects, ensuring accurate tracking of project costs and progress.
Essential Skills
Thorough understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel (V-Lookups and Pivot Tables).
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred but not required.
2+ years of accounting experience preferred.
Proven experience as an accountant, preferably in the construction industry.
Work Environment
Fully on site, 5 days a week. Hours are from 7am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday. The dress code is business casual. The team consists of the accounting manager and three other team members. One team member is leaving in March, and this position is to replace that individual.
