Job Summary
This spilt position supports the Alabama manufacturing site within the Defense Business Line and GKN Aerospace and is responsible for managing the proposal preparation process for Site bids and change notices as well as providing actionable Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) recommendations to key stakeholders and senior leaders to ensure sound financial and operation decisions occur. This position will be involved in a variety of financial, operational and strategic analysis, reviews and related decisions that have significant impact on the business. Accountable and responsible develop the recurring and nonrecurring costs, produce compliant pricing offerings, and generate GKN Aerospace Business Model per internal guideline. This role will support new business and current business proposals, including current program changes. In addition, this role will support the internal leadership (Gate) Review process.
Job Responsibilities
Analyze financial data from Cincom ERP and utilize financial models, OneStream and TM1 consolidation tools to perform financial analysis and distill into actionable reports
Develop and utilize forward-looking data analytics, visualization, and trend analysis to inform financial strategy and decision making
Perform analysis on customer margins in detail by contract, model and part number. Understand and explain cost components to managers to take effective action to improve margins while maintaining quality and delivery performance
Identify and develop efficient and effective methods and practices to analyze financial results and operating data required by Purchasing, Programs and Manufacturing Operations management. Analyze this data and deliver meaningful information to management with corrective action plans. Implement and ensure performance to realize these desired financial results.
Analyze direct and indirect labor levels and trends
Ensure managers are kept fully informed of their spending and financial results, while maintaining a firm and creditable relationships with all levels of management
Perform indirect cost and program costs analysis to ensure the required operating and financial performance objectives at achieved.
Coordination with Operations, Supply Chain and Engineering to determine which parts will be made vs. bought and identify required special processes
Work with multi-functional departments to assess RFP requirements and develop accurate recurring and nonrecurring estimates for parts and assemblies
Provide engineering data packages to Supply Chain based on commodities for quoting, ensuring all necessary information is included
Coordinate with the Supply Chain to ensure all detail parts, hardware, and outside processing are quoted and received in time to support the GKN Aerospace Bid Process
Create basis of estimate rationales for each estimate
Utilize Site ERP system to identify recurring and nonrecurring cost impacts for changes in scope to existing work packages
Generate compliant Business Models as part of the Bids & Proposals Business Line team and agreed with customer Business IPT’s in conjunction with IPT staff.
Ensure the pricing generated is compliant where applicable with military standards including the military cost compliance regulations (FAR/CAS).
Verify, analyze and challenge cost and price inputs (including fact-finding) provided by IPT team members.
Ensure on-time delivery of estimating data and business model in accordance with proposal plans including escalation of priority as needed.
Provide financial analysis of Business Models created generating the outputs required to support the Commercial Gate Review Process for Bid review and approval.
Job Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
BS/BA in Accounting, Finance
2+ years of experience in Financial Planning & Analysis
5+ years of manufacturing environment work experience
Must be a US Persons (US Citizen, Green Card Holder / US permanent resident, refugee or asylee) to meet export control compliance requirements
Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes and the ability to understand technical drawings/models
Additional Qualifications:
Experience with enterprise-level cost management tools (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Cobra Cincom, Hyperion/Smartview, OneStream, TM1)
Proficient working experience with Excel, Power Point and Reporting skillsPreferred experience in Aerospace and Defense industry with experience in a manufacturing environment
Ability to articulate costing standards and accounting methods to demonstrate value to a customer
Able to extract, compile and summarize financial data in such a manner that complex matters can be distilled into simple problem statements & recommendations
Comfortable developing concise and clear executive-style presentations to support various reviews, forecasting cycles and monthly & quarterly performance briefings
Demonstrate clear understanding and application of cost and indirect Forward-Pricing Rates (Overhead, Material Handling and SG&A) management techniques, including performance against budget and rate monitoring cadence
Ability to work independently and meet hard deadlines
Experience leading projects that aim to innovate tools, processes, and product
Experience with Tableau or similar reporting/visualization tools
Experience in Aerospace and Defense engineering, estimating, proposal management, or related role.
Knowledge of composite production methods, materials, and equipment.
Understanding of RFP/RFI requests from customers and able to translate them into manageable work packages for team members.
Experience writing Costing Volumes for US DoD proposals.
