POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of the Manager I, this position is responsible for assisting with the administration and resolution of operational and management problems as they relate to criminal justice information. Additionally, this position provides research and analysis relative to state and national laws, rules and regulations that directly and indirectly impact the maintenance or dissemination of criminal justice information. This position must meet and maintain National Crime Information Center/Florida Crime Information Center certification as required and is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of data housed within the department databases.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborating with internal and external customers in order to gather documentation required to formulate a recommendation as required and within defined timeframes;

  • Effectively utilizing resources available to ensure maintenance of complete and accurate criminal history records;

  • Conducting analysis of documentation gathered for specialized requests and assisting in the determination of impact of proposed law or rules changes;

  • Conducting research for relevant information from multiple databases and resources;

  • Assisting management in the creation and maintenance of operational procedures to ensure section materials are up to date and available to section members;

  • Assisting management in the quality assurance of criminal history records;

  • Assisting in training of section members as assigned; and

  • Remaining knowledgeable about section processes.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication;

  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system;

  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection;

  • Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data;

  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques;

  • Ability to operate computers and other office equipment;

  • Ability to monitor criminal justice information activities; and

  • Ability to work independently by planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments.

  • $21.78/hour

    Starting hourly salary will be the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE’s pay policy. FDLE is a State of Florida Employer and offers a comprehensive OPS benefits package (ONLY available to OPS members who will be working 30 or more hours a week) , including:

    BACKGROUND:

    FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants. The elements of a background include: financial credit check, criminal history of applicant and applicant’s immediate family or roommates, personal references, employment and education verifications (which includes official transcript(s)), drug screen and fingerprinting. This information will be utilized to make the final hiring decision.

    NOTES:

    Preference will be given to current FDLE members who have satisfactorily completed at least six months of the probationary period for their current position.
