The Justice Administrative Commission (JAC) is a small (<100 employees) state agency that serves Florida’s State Attorneys, Public Defenders, Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsels, Capital Collateral Regional Counsels, and the Statewide Guardian ad Litem Program. JAC also processes bills from private court-appointed attorneys representing indigent individuals statewide and their associated due process vendors (e.g., court reporters, interpreters, investigators, and expert witnesses) to ensure compliance with Florida Statutes and JAC’s Contracts. The Work You Will Do :

The duties of the Application/Database Administrator involve application and database support which includes reviewing, analyzing, and modifying programming systems to support the Justice Administrative Commission (JAC) business applications.

Here are some responsibilities of the position:

Application Development :

  • Participates in the whole software Lifecycle of an application, which includes requirement gathering, analysis, design, development, testing, and implementation.

  • Analyzes user requirements and suggests better practices to improve the application.

  • Enhances and upgrades existing applications based on user requirements.

  • Maintains existing applications.

  • Designs, creates, and implements new applications.

  • Assists in unit, black-box, integrations, system and acceptance testing of an application.

  • Works on all layers of the three-tiered architecture, which involves the client, the application server, and the database server.

  • Initiates deployment of applications to test and production servers.

  • Seeks out new solutions, technologies, and plug-ins to develop a better, more efficient and robust system.

    Database Development :

  • Creates tables, queries, functions, and stored procedures needed by applications to extract or insert data.

  • Performs back-end database updates as requested by the user.

  • Works on exporting and importing data from different sources.

  • Generates reports for users.

    Laserfiche Administrator :

  • Develops and maintains Quick Fields scan sessions for importing into Laserfiche.

  • Develops and maintains workflow for document processing in Laserfiche.

  • Develops policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the Laserfiche system.

  • Develops and maintains security in Laserfiche.

  • Develops and maintains templates in Laserfiche.

  • Trains new users and troubleshoots problems experienced by users in Laserfiche.

    Experience Required:

  • Knowledge of ASP.NET, Java Script, JQuery, and MVC.

  • Knowledge of Relational Database Management Systems such as SQL Server or Oracle.

  • Minimum of 2- or 3-years’ experience in application and database development

    Experience Preferred:

  • Prior experience in administering an Electronic Document Management System.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science or computer related field

    JAC is a member of the Florida Retirement System and participates in the State Group Insurance Plan. However, JAC is not part of the State Personnel System.
