This advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Staff Development.

Salary: $65,526.50 Annual Rate

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is located within the Curriculum, Planning, and Evaluation of the Bureau of Staff Development and Training. The incumbent works to build and sustain a research-based learning culture that is responsive to correctional best practices, change, collaboration, innovation and organizational succession.

  • The incumbent in this position is responsible for creating succession-based curricula that supports the Department's professional development initiatives for supervisory and line level employees. This includes making recommendations in reports and studies on issues associated with employee retention and managerial policies.

  • The incumbent oversees the production and promotion of innovative training resources and services for instructors to ensure they continually gain new knowledge and improve their preparation and delivery skills.

  • The incumbent makes regular contact with the Regional Training Managers and Coordinators, Staff Development Training Coordinators, Training Officers and Sergeants and staff assigned to the field who provide the day to day delivery of specialized, advanced, and annual in-service training. This is for the dual purpose of first, determining what training needs exist in the field and then providing practical and innovative solutions that provide the desired result. Second, the incumbent will secure their help in developing and reviewing new curriculum material, analyzing data, conducting focus groups, and providing first hand information on the application of training systems in the field.

  • The incumbent provides individual and classroom-style technical assistance to the Bureau's Regional Training Managers and Coordinators, Staff Development Training Coordinators, and Training Officers and Sergeants in the areas of strategic planning (the process of envisioning a future and translating vision into defined goals, objectives, strategies, and tactics.); longitudinal program and management evaluation (used to determine the effectiveness of training material, instructors, and participant satisfaction and succession over time); executive decision-making (analytical thinking to determine the appropriate course of action); research, data analysis, grant writing, and the identification and implementation of best practices (identifying a method or technique that consistently shows results that are superior to those achieved by other means).

  • The incumbent will assist the Curriculum, Evaluation and Program Manager with functional and technical analysis, implementation, customization and support of the Learning Management System and related projects. Provide technical support, including troubleshooting issues, responding to client inquiries, system maintenance and integrity.

  • Knowledge of system reports and ability to create custom reports.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently employed with the Florida Department of Corrections.

  • High school diploma or its equivalent and one or more years of experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS), process improvement and/or process redesign; or one year of experience as a CJSTS certified instructor, and one year of experience within the agency.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One (1) or more years of professional experience in staff development, training, teaching, research, program evaluation, and/or project management.
