Amazon Technical Program Manager, Ring in Taipei, Taiwan

Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Program Manager to join our dynamic global program management team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting both new product introduction (NPI) initiatives and post-ramp product sustainability efforts. This position demands exceptional communication skills, coupled with extensive hands-on program management experience in the tech industry.

The candidate will be responsible for managing complex projects, collaborating seamlessly with diverse internal cross-functional teams, including engineering, product design, and operations. Additionally, they will collaborate with external contract manufacturers and suppliers to ensure smooth product development and production processes.

Key responsibilities include creating and maintaining project schedules, identifying and mitigating risks, facilitating effective communication among stakeholders, and driving projects to successful completion within specified timelines and budgets. The ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and navigate ambiguity is essential in this fast-paced environment.

Key job responsibilities

As a Technical Program Manager for Ring/Blink product family, you will:

  1. Oversee NPI activities and post-launch tasks, ensuring product stability and continuous improvement throughout the lifecycle.

  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage deliverables, monitor validation processes, and lead failure analysis efforts.

  3. Partner with manufacturing, quality, and supplier teams to address challenges and drive production process improvements.

  4. Foster effective teamwork and communication among diverse internal and external groups, acting as a liaison to align project goals and timelines.

  5. Define and track program priorities using project management tools, facilitating regular meetings to review status and address challenges.

  6. Develop and distribute comprehensive project information, including plans, risk management, and status reports to stakeholders.

  7. Maintain current and accessible program artifacts, managing the project document repository with proper version control.

  8. Proactively identify and mitigate risks that may impact project timelines or deliverables.

  9. Coordinate product testing and certification processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements across markets.

This role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to navigate complex technical challenges and drive results in a fast-paced environment.

A day in the life

A typical day for a TPM at Ring/Blink begins with global communications and project updates, followed by leading team and cross-functional meetings. The TPM updates project schedules and risk registers, collaborates with manufacturers on production challenges, and facilitates quality assurance and failure analysis sessions. Preparing status reports for senior management and overseeing compliance and certification processes. Throughout the day, the TPM continuously monitors project timelines, handles ad-hoc requests, makes quick decisions, updates documentation, and adapts to changing priorities.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or other technical discipline.

  • 6+ years of experience in technical program management .

  • 6+ years of experience in managing projects across cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Operations, Quality.

  • 3+ years of experience in working with contract manufacturers or joint development manufacturers.

  • Experiences in managing post ramp/launch qualification, schedule and resources for hardware products and driving the overall execution.

  • Experiences and knowledge of hardware development process and lifecycle.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to successfully engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent degree.

  • Proven success of influencing and developing productive working relationships with internal resources or external business partners such as contract manufacturers and vendors.

  • Strong meeting management and negotiating skills.

  • Strong analyzing and problem-solving skills for technical issues.

  • Demonstrate strong ability to manage project and task prioritization, deliverables and schedule planning.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced matrix technical organization.

  • 2+ years of experience in managing technical projects in IoT or any other RF technologies such as WiFi, Bluetooth, Z-wave, Zigbee, 3G/4G/5G.

  • Experience with MS Project, Confluence /JIRA or other project management tools.
