As Microsoft's cloud business continues to grow the ability to deploy new offerings and HW infrastructure on time, in high volume with high quality and lowest cost is of paramount importance. To achieve this goal, the Hardware, Infrastructure Management, and Fundamentals Engineering (HIFE) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, scale and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware. We are looking for seasoned engineers with a strong passion for customer focused solutions, insight and industry knowledge to envision and implement future technical solutions that will manage and optimize the Cloud infrastructure.

We are looking for an experienced H ardware Safety Engineer who will be responsible to drive holistic product safety designs, from the component level through fully integrated solutions delivered to Datacenters across the globe, ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, thermal, acoustic designs and supporting documentation conform to the Safety, Certification & Compliance requirements set in conjunction with Microsoft Datacenter Operations. #azurehwjobs #HIFE #Azure #Cloud #Hardware

Responsibilities

  • Support hardware design teams throughout the product life cycle through participation in electrical/mechanical design reviews and by defining and driving Design for Product Safety, Ergonomics, Serviceability and Rack Integration requirements.

  • Work with both manufacturers and 3rd party labs to scope and conduct validation/verification testing in addition to obtaining required certifications.

  • Champion best-practice solutions by leveraging technical knowledge and process proficiency, alongside a thorough grasp of ergonomics and service standards, to develop advanced liquid cooling technologies for upcoming server and storage products.

  • Support hardware development, deployment and sustaining teams from system concept to decommissioning. Work with cross-functional strategic teams on process optimizations and inter-related strategic initiatives

  • Define and facilitate the creation of manuals, training collateral, troubleshooting processes, and diagnostic methods through development and deployment.

  • Generate precise, accurate troubleshooting processes and optimize existing processes.

  • Perform Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment for Cloud Hardware

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of technical engineering experience

  • OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years of technical engineering experience

  • OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

  • Strong program management, time management, prioritization, and organizational skills

  • Proven record of effectively managing hardware safety, servicing, and operational expectations

  • Experience and understanding of international requirements for hardware safety

  • Good communications skills for describing technical and compliance findings

  • Experienced in the design or configuration of IT equipment.

  • Experienced in performing Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment.

  • Have experience or knowledge of defining ergonomic and safe operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with International and UL Safety Standards for Information and Communication Devices and subcomponents.

  • Experience working in a lab environment.

  • Expertise evaluating and assessing Safety design risks within technology incorporating both electrical and liquid-filled components.
