We are looking for a Principal Electrical Enginee r to focus on the electrical system design for next generation Surface Platforms/products. A strong mix of technical breadth and depth will allow you to work cross-functionally with different disciplines (Industrial Design, Mechanical, Electrical, Thermal, Software and Firmware) to develop compelling innovative products. You will design and develop circuits, select key strategic components and that encompasses the entire product.

Responsibilities

• Lead new SOC Platform system architecture/features definition, solutions implementation.

• Collaborate with Products implementation team on Surface products design life cycle.

• Lead motherboard floorplan and layout in collaboration with ME, ID, and Thermal team.

• Design, build and test rapid prototypes for evaluation of new product ideas or technology concepts.

• Create design documentation, develop schematics, and a board layout to meet system design requirements.

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to optimize the overall system of the product from concept to completion.

• Use simulation and lab measurement data to support design troubleshooting and propose corrective actions, drive failure analysis, root cause analysis, and design of experiments to resolve issues.

• Work with suppliers, contractors, and engineering services to ensure that the product is developed on time with high quality.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• 12+ years of technical engineering experience

• OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 10+ years of technical engineering experience

• OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 8+ years of technical engineering experience Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years of technical engineering

• 12+ years of experience designing, implementing, and shipping high volume consumer electronics products of medium to high complexity.

• Hands-on design experience preferred in analog/ digital electronics ranging from: RF, analog, digital, audio, video, power, electromechanical, low power, charging, touch display, and sensors.

• Strong EE fundamentals, Familiar with PCB materials, Flex design and PCB/FPC manufacturing process.

• Familiar with system level SI/PI simulation, and correlation to solve system design issues.

• Familiar with High-speed interface protocol, electrical measurement equipment such as VNA, TDR, Bert, Scope

• Experience preferred with x86 PC and or ARM architectures and implementation of high speed serial busses (PCIe, DP, USB4, Thunderbolt, MIPI) and high speed parallel busses such as: memory bus (LP5x etc.)

• Demonstrated problem solving and debugging skills with a solid understanding of core engineering principles, fundamental circuit design, and analytical techniques is required.
