Meta Opto-Mechanical Engineer, Cameras & Sensors in Taipei, Taiwan

Summary:

As an Opto-Mechanical Engineer at Meta, you will take a critical role in developing AR & VR Systems. You will become part of a team exploring new concepts through mechanical design, optical modeling, and fast iterative prototyping. A wide range of approaches will be explored combining electrical, mechanical, optical, firmware, and software techniques. We want people who work well in teams, can brainstorm big ideas, work in new technology areas, are willing to drive a concept into a prototype, and mature designs to a high-volume consumer product solution. We are looking for someone with a productive mindset who can apply their mechanical and optical engineering expereince to solve problems in insightful ways. Our ideal candidate has a good fundamental engineering background, prototyping experience, 3D CAD capability, and experience designing and manufacturing consumer technology products.

Required Skills:

Opto-Mechanical Engineer, Cameras & Sensors Responsibilities:

  1. Model, build, test, and refine prototypes and characterization test systems

  2. Drive development of opto-mechanical system requirements for advanced imaging and camera system technologies

  3. Work across the full product development cycle, from concept inception to shipping product

  4. Work with vendors worldwide

  5. Push state-of-the-art technologies and approaches to solving complex mechanical problems

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience

  2. 2+ years of mechanical engineering experience in high-volume consumer electronics product development

  3. Knowledge of material properties such as plastics, metal, adhesive, glass, PCBA, and flex circuit

  4. Knowledge and application of GD&T techniques and knowledge of associated metrology approaches

  5. Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing techniques (Stamping, machining, 3D printing, injection molding, etc.)

  6. Experience in 3D design modeling (NX, SolidWorks, or Creo) and physical prototyping

  7. Experience in testing and analysis (FEA, Simulation, Zemax, Ray Tracing, etc.)

  1. MS in Mechanical Engineering

  2. 5+ years of opto-mechanical experience for high volume products

  3. Knowledge of cost effective, miniaturized optics & electrical component packaging, mounting, interfaces, and adhesive bonding

  4. Knowledge or optics manufacturing techniques (glass lens, plastic lens, coatings, molding)

  5. Experience in consumer electronics product development and/or manufacturing

  6. Experience with mass production of systems requiring active optical alignment

  7. Experience delivering multiple successful consumer products to production from concept inception to shipping product

  8. Six sigma experience (Green Belt or Black Belt)
