Asia Power & Renewables Risk Engineer, Aon Global Risk Consulting [AGRC]

We’re hiring!

Aon’s Global Risk Consulting [AGRC] team is recruiting a Power & Renewables [P&R] Risk Engineer to:

  • join the AGRC team in Asia

  • be a critical member of our organisation’s broader P&R capability, both in APAC and globally

    Flexibility exists as to the position’s location, other than it being cited in one of Asia’s major population centres.

    The successful candidate will bear responsibility for:

  • Conducting risk consulting/risk engineering engagements for clients and prospects in the P&R sector

  • Developing and expanding P&R engineering/consulting capability & capacity- and hence AGRC revenue- across APAC

  • Contributing to Aon’s global engagement with/penetration of the P&R sector

  • Working with other Aon specialists to expand the Company’s:

  • Industry-facing

  • Insurance market-facing

  • credentials in the P&R sector

  • Supporting Aon’s client engagement strategy in the P&R sector across APAC

  • Assisting with prospect engagement, including the conduct of P&R sector RFPs

    About the Role

    As a P&R Risk Engineer, you will join the AGRC Asia team and bear responsibility for:

  • Growing:

  • The profile of the P&R sector, both internally [within Aon] and externally [in the insurance and general business communities]

  • Both Aon’s and AGRC’s client portfolio penetration rates across pertinent consulting lines of business

  • AGRC P&R sector revenue year-on-year

  • Supporting the growth of Aon total client revenue, in both Asia and APAC as a whole, by:

  • Collaborating with colleagues working in dedicated sales in P&R prospect identification, development and conversion e.g. via RFPs

  • Participating actively in P&R Client Planning/Delivering Aon United [DAU] activity

  • Communicating with client-facing colleagues- management and insurance practitioners- about the opportunities which the P&R sector represents

  • Encouraging in-country risk engineering colleagues across Asia to grow their technical capabilities in the P&R sector

  • Assisting colleagues working on dedicated sales & Growth Strategies to build and maintain an accurate pipeline of P&R Opportunities and Leads on Connect

  • Maximising the opportunity, and the revenue flow, derived from P&R client risk bursaries

  • Engaging with P&R risk consulting peers in the USA, LATAM & UK/EMEA to extend APAC’s sector credentials

  • Evangelising Aon’s P&R risk consulting capabilities by representing Aon at risk-focused external/public events

  • Aligning personally with:

  • AGRC APAC industry peers e.g. Energy/Oil & Gas etc.

  • AGRC global leadership

    At a technical level, in your capacity as a P&R sector specialist, your key responsibilities will include;

  • Leading both technical and relationship fulfilment for designated clients

  • Delivering a suite of risk advisory services across the complete spectrum of client alternatives; principally risk engineering & underwriting surveys but this may also include execution of- or contributing towards- enterprise risk etc. analyses for P&R sector clients

  • Developing and delivering training seminars/workshops, technical support and risk advice to clients, to Aon colleagues and to the P&R community at large

  • Working closely with a range of Aon colleagues to support the placement of client insurance programmes, including:

  • Broking

  • Client Analytics

  • Captive management etc.

  • Building and maintaining contact with the London and international insurance community to:

  • Promote existing products/services to the P&R sector, and

  • Originating new/alternative approaches

  • Identifying & evaluating potential project risks, at all phases of the project lifecycle, and proposing technical solutions

  • Collaborating closely with other engineers, both in-region and globally, to devise industry-leading technical responses for the P&R sector

    About you

    As risk engineering specialist in the P&R sector, your skills and qualifications will ideally include;

  • Significant experience working in the sector itself

  • A university degree in an appropriate subject

  • A recognised professional qualification

  • A track record of completing projects, delivering reports etc. on time, in full, in specification

  • Good interpersonal skills at all levels of an organisation

  • Superior analytical, numerical and presentational skills

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Willingness to undertake material business travel, both regional and intercontinental, throughout the working year

  • Flexibility, creative thinking and an inclination to operate outside of previous experience

  • Fluent spoken and written English

  • Commitment to continuous learning & professional development

    Preferred qualities will include:

  • Material experience in offshore wind

  • Experience of working in different countries

  • Fluency in a second language
