The Experience
This position leads the Marketing function for the category in the Philippines and is responsible for driving consumer demand, growing market share in these categories, increasing operating profit, and maintaining good brand health. It is accountable for growing brand recall and recommendation, protecting brand identity and image to optimize category business growth targets. It will drive and coordinate within the commercial team to create synergy within the functions so as to build operational efficiencies
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Planning:
Examine competition performance and new entrant activities, analyze historic trends in pricing and category performance, interpret changing consumer behavior, study socio-economic indicators both at a country level as well as segmented by regions within the country
Gather inputs from Consumer Insights and CIC teams to build 5 year strategy for the category
Develop annual category marketing plans and execution strategy based on overall organizational direction and priorities– annual budgets, overall sales, margins and market share targets, brand focus – and present during Colgate Business Planning process to the Leadership team for approval
Guide team to break down the annual plan to quarterly plans and circulate the same to branches in Branch Activation Meetings
Monitoring and review:
Periodically review the annual plan for the category and make changes to it as appropriate, after considering inputs such as competition analysis, market trends, consumer behavior, company priorities etc.
Monitor achievement of market share, demand generation, brand health targets per quarter and present the same to the Leadership team during mid-year and end of year reviews
Monitor advertisements, promotions, Return on Investment on marketing campaigns on a monthly basis
Oversee the gap analysis and decide on action plans for course correction
Lead weekly commercial team meetings to monitor progress on the GRID
Track brand health periodically using data from Customer Insights team – brand awareness level, brand performance, consumption patterns, etc.
Product Innovation:
Provide inputs at the right stages during design of new products
Oversee the Go to Market phase in terms of deciding pricing after testing the product in context of portfolio and competition, distribution partners, in-store support, retail environment and geography of launch
Monitor the launch and product performance for the initial phase post launch
Marketing communication:
Provide inputs on the briefing to the advertising agency for creatives, story board, celebrities to be used for endorsement, etc.
Provide inputs to the Marketing Communication team for creation of media plans
Review and approve concepts created for brands within the category, guide team to test consumer responses and write advertisement briefs
Co-lead pre-production meetings with Advertisement Directors to finalize the ad film
Approve ad withdrawal after analyzing impact of ad on brand performance
Relationship Management:
Visit critical markets and key customers regularly to understand latest consumer behavior patterns
Represent the company in industry fora
Interact with division and global category teams to discuss brand positioning, architecture, issues etc.
People Management:
Recommend modifications to the team structure; conduct interviews for selecting right candidate for open positions
Cascade overall functional goals for team, set up objective goals and conduct periodic performance reviews
Guide teams and drive engagement by applying consistent standards for performance management, providing equal opportunities of training and job rotation, and recommending job enlargement and promotions of deserving team members
Communicate regularly with team members to provide organizational/functional updates, resolve conflicts, create intra-functional work groups, etc.
