As a Backup Systems Analyst you will be responsible or participating in designing, implementing, and maintaining data backup and recovery systems. Your role is essential in ensuring data resilience, availability, and timely recovery in case of unexpected incidents. You will work closely with clients and internal teams to meet backup and recovery needs efficiently.

The Role

Backup System Design and Implementation:

• Collaborate with clients to assess backup requirements and design customized backup solutions.

• Configure and deploy backup software, hardware, and storage infrastructure.

• Implement backup policies and schedules to meet recovery point objectives (RPOs).

Data Restoration and Recovery:

• Develop or maintain backup and recovery procedures.

• Test and execute data restoration processes to ensure data availability.

• Troubleshoot and resolve recovery issues promptly.

Monitoring and Maintenance:

• Monitor backup systems to ensure consistent and reliable operation.

• Perform routine system maintenance, updates, and upgrades.

• Monitor system performance and optimize backup processes for efficiency.

Capacity Planning and Scalability:

• Assess data growth trends and plan for backup system capacity expansion.

• Implement scalable backup solutions to accommodate increasing data volumes.

Security and Compliance:

• Implement data encryption and access controls to protect backup data.

• Ensure compliance with data security regulations and industry standards.

• Conduct security audits and assessments as required.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain comprehensive documentation of backup configurations, procedures, and best practices.

• Generate regular reports on backup system performance, capacity utilization, and trends.

Customer Support and Training:

• Provide technical support to clients, assisting with backup-related issues and inquiries.

• Conduct training sessions to educate clients and internal teams on backup best practices.

Disaster Recovery Planning:

• Contribute to disaster recovery planning efforts by ensuring backup systems align with recovery objectives.

• Participate in disaster recovery drills and exercises.

The Requirements

• 2-5 years of progressive experience managing Commvault and Rubrik data backup systems and processes in an enterprise environment.

• Understanding of technical details related to integration between virtual compute platform systems, unstructured data storage systems and backup systems.

• Knowledge of compute virtualization in a VMWare environment and the integration points related to performing and recovering virtual server backups.

• Familiarity with Azure IAAS as it relates to restoring backup content from Commvault or Rubrik backup systems.
