About You

We’re looking for an individual with a drive to be the best: enabling Philippines market to deliver great results in Tax. You must have the ability to deliver quality output efficiently and the skills to work within deadline and with multiple collaborators.

Function

The Tax job family encompasses global roles accountable for the design and implementation of tax strategies, policies and the tax governance framework. It also includes the provision of tax support to Diageo’s business units, delivery of projects to create shareholder value, and proactive management and mitigation of key tax risks. With the rapid digitalisation of indirect tax administration, the Tax Compliance team is increasingly dealing with real-time tax audits and other data requests from various authorities by providing timely access to accurate data. In addition to the tax compliance responsibilities, the team is heavily involved in the delivery of the Global Tax mission and Performance Promise agenda.

The APAC Tax Compliance team is led from Budapest by the Head of Global Tax Process and Governance.

This role reports into the APAC Tax Compliance Manager. It also works very closely with the local Tax Manager and the Philippine Senior Tax Analyst and liaises with other internal & external collaborators.

About the Role

The purpose of this role is to ensure that the market’s Tax Compliance processes are undertaken accurately, efficiently (utilising automation) and on time and the surrounding internal control procedures, legislative requirements are strictly adhered to.

  • Ensure that accounting for direct and indirect taxes including journal entry posting and balance sheet reccloselyonciliations are prepared according to the global standard process and controls, local DTPs, on time and utilising automation tools where applicable.

  • Prepare quality reconciliations through deep understanding of the balances in the GL accounts

  • Support routine tax-related enquiries and tax projects for assigned tasks.

  • Act as back-up for delegated tasks when necessary.

  • Support the APAC Tax Compliance SMEs.

  • Ensure compliance with market specific regulatory requirements and legislative changes working closely with Global and Local SMEs.

  • Actively manage and coordinate tax-related document retention for assigned tasks.

  • Take ownership for the day-to-day tasks required.

  • Support business partners through benefit analysis, thorough understanding of movements on accounts, the business reason behind those, and collection and presentation of Risk & Opportunities

  • Ensure smooth and accurate month-end closes

  • Prepare and post accruals/adjustments/other required journals to ensure the month-end results show the clear and fair picture

  • Ensure that financial processes are undertaken accurately, efficiently, on time and that the surrounding internal control procedures are strictly adhered to in line with CARM processes

  • Maxime benefits of globalized system processes

  • Set work priorities and in general independence of work activities

  • Support process improvements and rollout of standardised processes and automation.

  • Contribute ideas, energy, passion and support to the continuous improvement of the processes.

  • Promptly respond to market queries in respect of markets responsibility and supporting APAC Compliance Manager, tax managers, SMEs in non-routine questions, global projects, and during tax audits in the based on competency.

  • Continuously maintain excellent personal and business relationship with the market and in-house customers

  • Pro-actively support internal projects to facilitate the ongoing transformation and improvement of Diageo’s Global Tax function (including providing relevant information, answering ad hoc requests and suggesting alternative ways of working)

Experience required/Skills/Capabilities/Languages

  • University / College degree in finance / accounting / business / CPA

  • At least 1-3 years working experience in a multinational corporate environment

  • Focused experience in accounting / GL reconciliation / taxation experience is strongly preferred

  • Experience with Shared services / FMCG process activities is an advantage

  • Capable of working in a deadline driven environment

  • Hard working personality, flexibility for adopting to change with positive demeanor

  • Fluent in English, able to communicate effectively to build strong relationships with operational staff and collaborators

  • SAP knowledge is an advantage
