As the Utility Voice & Security Systems Manager, you'll lead teams of Telecomm Engineers and Communications Systems Technicians responsible for delivering critical voice services (radio and telephony/unified communications), physical security systems, and audio/visual systems to serve the needs of all Tacoma Public Utilities (TPU) Divisions. This group is highly effective and productive and members of your team deliver reliable services with attention to quality and a strong culture of safety. Cultivating consistently high performance and morale over the long term and nurturing team members’ professional development are high priorities for this position.

Collaboration, building cross-functional working relationships with a wide variety of business partners, and the ability to understand how your team’s services support and/or enable utility operations across TPU are essential to success. In this role, you will have the unique opportunity to interface with colleagues across the organization – from frontline professional staff to senior leaders. Deftly navigating the varying needs and priorities of these disparate stakeholder groups is necessary to ensure your team continues to meet the organization’s needs.

This job requires balancing strategic objectives with operational effectiveness. Attention to detail and interpersonal savvy are needed to ensure short- and long-term priorities for your team are clear and aligned with the expectations of UTS leadership. Additionally, you will have oversight and responsibility for compliance with a variety of legal and regulatory requirements, including some North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), and Operations & Planning (O&P) Reliability Standards. Meeting our compliance obligations, ensuring operational effectiveness and delivering on the organization's strategic priorities are key elements of how you and your team will contribute to the integrity and security of critical infrastructure, and support TPU’s vision of being a trusted community partner, where employees are proud to deliver equitable, affordable utility services.
