Role:
Student Surgical Technician is responsible for providing surgical care to patients at a technical level in accordance with department protocols and applicable regulatory requirements and under the direct and continuing supervision of a licensed provider.
This is a temporary classification for employees who are currently enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technician training program. This position is a pathway to the Surgical Technician classification and is designed to provide concurrent work experience while training an incumbent to relevant didactic technical and clinical skills for competency at the completion of a defined Virginia Mason Franciscan Health hospital-sponsored educator/preceptor program.
Work requires adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines as well as the safety, risk management and standard precaution standards of the work unit.
The Surgical Tech-Student is intended to be of limited duration while an employee is in school and may lead to opportunity upon graduation for continued employment.
Qualifications
Education/Work Experience Requirements
Enrollment in the Virginia Mason Franciscan Health approved non-certified Surgical Technician Program and continued enrollment thereafter through graduation. Two years clinical experience in a perioperative setting preferred.
Licensure/Certification
Current healthcare provider BLS Certification or within 30 days of hire or placement in the job.
Pay Range
$24.59 - $33.81 /hour
