The team you will be a part of

The Tax team ensures that the organization meets its tax obligations and objectives and complies with all relevant laws and regulations. Activities may include undertaking research; evaluating the legality and tax effectiveness of current and future business activities; preparing and submitting tax returns, tax declarations, and other required reports; maintaining tax records; and corresponding with external tax agencies or consultants.

This role in summary

We are seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Manager - Global Transfer Pricing position to join our Tax Department.

The Whirlpool Brazil Tax Department is a dynamic, high-energy, fast-paced environment that will develop and challenge even the most sophisticated tax professional. This role will be responsible for working across our finance organization, overseeing complex tax matters and partnering with our business leaders to provide tax guidance on Whirlpool’s Transfer Pricing strategic initiatives. The position will be responsible to guide the company on cases of TP consulting, monitor profitability worldwide, verify compliance and alignment with the Global TP framework.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Ensure compliance with TP regulations by preparing/review TP documentation;

  • Prepare and analyze functional profiles (understand and track P&L/profitability/Safe Harbors/APA/R&D);

  • Develop and track TP policies;

  • TP consulting for all regions (Intercompany transactions, new business, Trademark, Royalties etc);

  • Support/Review Global Master File and track/review Local Files/CbC Reportings;

  • Provide timely information for the business/Global Tax for strategic decisions/plannings;.

  • Help to define, implement and maintain the Global TP framework;

  • Manage TP Tax Audits (jointly with Local teams and Tax Controversy);

  • Assist Tax Controversy on TP disputes;

  • Guidance/Approval on documentation to ensure controls and compliance with internal audit regarding TP (jointly with Local teams);

  • Monitor changes in TP regulation;

  • Proactively identify and assess potential tax planning strategies (e.g. accounting method changes, IP ownership, etc) related to TP/others;

  • Maintain a consistent, active leadership position in the company’s global finance leadership organization, staying close to strategic developments;

  • Manage external service providers to ensure that outsourced projects are completed timely and accurately;

  • Develop a replacement for your role within 1-3 years;

  • Actively develop junior tax professionals.

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Masters Degree in Accountancy preferred (also Economics or Law);

  • 10+ years of experience as a tax professional at a global tax consulting firm or a publicly-traded, U.S. (preference) headquartered multinational organization;

  • 5+ years of direct experience in Transfer Pricing role with one or more U.S. headquartered multinational companies.

Preferred skills and experiences

  • Proven ability to design, lead, and implement U.S. tax planning strategies;

  • Capability to assess tax risk and identify issues that require escalation;

  • Exceptional ability to work across functional areas, build consensus, and foster teamwork;

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple competing projects;

  • Ability to represent the tax department in internal meetings and provide specific tax technical guidance to non-tax working groups;

  • Vision and presence to represent the tax department in dealings with external service providers;

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills;

  • Strong management presence; capable of running a meeting alone and driving projects forward positively;

  • Ability to build and develop a team.
