Syracuse University Program Coordinator, First Year Seminar in Syracuse, New York
The Program Coordinator, First Year Seminar (FYS 101) will be an integral member of the leadership team to ensure the success of FYS 101. FYS 101 is a required semester-long course anchored around transitioning to college and creating a sense of belonging within the Syracuse University community. Course content includes dialogue around topics related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA). All FYS 101 sections are led by a faculty, staff, or graduate student Lead Instructor and an undergraduate Peer Leader through a co-facilitation model.
The Program Coordinator supervises the undergraduate Student Assistants that provide administrative support to the team, focusing on creating a welcoming and inviting environment in the FYS 101 suite, and FYS 101 Peer Leaders, including providing training, professional development, and mentorship, along with recruitment and approving weekly hours. The Program Coordinator also monitors overall student attendance trends and other logistical tasks to support the FYS 101 program.
The incumbent will be a key member of the team responsible for program coordination and on-going development, including curricular activities updates and connections to campus resources.
This position is part of a bargaining unit and is represented by the union SEIU, Local 200United.
