SUNY Upstate Medical University Office Assistant 2 in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

Responsible for performing tasks that support the printing, mail processing, and finishing services used to produce Upstate University and Hospital mailing. Duties include but are not limited to: Diagnose malfunctions and perform daily maintenance on mailing equipment, including: Quadient AS-450 monochrome address printer, Hassler HT20 tabber, Quadient DS-95i folding and inserting system and Quadient Mach 6 digital printing machine. Place service calls on equipment when necessary and assist technicians with answers regarding performance (or lack of) for said equipment. Responsible for the production of all #10 window and non-window envelopes for all departments within Upstate and coordinating bulk mailings according to guidelines set by the United States Postal Service. Verify and process various bulk mailings for qualification and preparation standards. Implement list processing using BCC software and certify incoming mailing list for printing onto various types of materials such as: self-mailers, envelopes, flyers, etc. Keep inventory of required supplies and reorder when necessary. Answer phone calls and assist with questions directed towards the department. Assist with any task necessary to complete printed material.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as an office assistant, clerical or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 5 or higher. Open competitive (Non-competitive, NY HELPS) Qualifications:

One year of clerical experience

Work Days:

Schedule based on a 40- hour work week. Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm

NY HELPS appointments may be temporary pending commissioner approval or permanent based on candidate eligibility.
