SUNY Upstate Medical University Nurse Practitioner in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary: The NP will work as a physician extender in a busy Family Medicine practice that delivers comprehensive patient care in an ambulatory outpatient setting. Non-physician providers are valued members of the clinical practice with faculty physician supervision and active participation in a clinical teaching environment. This person will work in collaboration with physicians in providing diagnostic and treatment services to individuals. Will assess, diagnose and develop a plan of care in accordance with practice protocols. Responsible for obtaining complete medical histories, performing physical examinations, ordering appropriate diagnostic tests.

Minimum Qualifications:

NYS licensed/registered NP (NYS NP specialty area of certification must be consistent with practice). Must have NPI number and be Medicare Enrolled with Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) OR be eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire (eligibility criteria for NP requires National Certification through AANP or ANCC, and Master's Degree). Initial certification must be present or obtained within 6 months of hire. Current CPR certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

3-5 years previous NP experience in primary care preferred.

Work Days:

Generally M-F 8am-5pm some Saturday mornings and occasional early morning or early evening meetings.
