SUNY Upstate Medical University Nurse Practitioner-OHCC CNY in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

The Occupational Advance Practice Nurse will work independently and in collaboration with the Medical Director in providing diagnostic and treatment services to individuals with work related illnesses and in the screening of high-risk groups.

Advanced Practice Nurse will be responsible for:

  • Obtaining complete medical and occupational histories.

  • Performing physical examinations, ordering, and interpreting appropriate diagnostic tests.

  • Making referrals for ongoing medical care for a shared panel of patients on initial and follow up visits.

  • Maintain accurate and complete medical records along with the preparation of required documentation for insurance companies and Workers' Compensation.

  • Expediting complete and timely follow up of physical findings, diagnostic testing, and medico legal issues for shared panel of patients.

  • Perform preventive activities including participation in screening activities and community and professional educational opportunities.

    Minimum Qualifications:

NYS licensed/registered NP required. Master’s Degree as a Nurse Practitioner & current National Certification consistent to the clinical practice also required. Have a NPI number and be Medicare enrolled with a Medicare Identification Number (or PTAN) (or eligible for Medicare Enrollment within 6 months of hire.

CPR-BLS Certification required at the time of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in Specialty area of Occupational Medicine/MSK/Ortho.

Work Days:

Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 4:30
