SUNY Upstate Medical University Hospital Patient Services Clerk 2 in Syracuse, New York
Job Summary:
Responsible for coordinating Medical Imaging scheduling, exam prep information, and patient reception and discharge. Must be able to perform all aspects of patient identification per hospital policies. Must demonstrate ability to scrutinize all orders for validation of information provided vs. required/matched information in department systems. Must possess strong attention to detail. Responsible for transcribing external provider orders into EPIC. Requires basic understanding of ICD. Must possess strong customer service and communication skills. Requires high functioning multi-tasking abilities. Must demonstrate the ability to form a good rapport with patients, coworkers and ordering offices. Requires basic understanding of Medical Imaging exams including pre-authorization requirements.

NYS Department of Civil Service Eligible list or eligible for transfer

You must be a qualified employee of the State University of New York and have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Hospital Patient Services Clerk 1 or as a Nursing Station Clerk 1
Or
Open Competitive (Non-competitive, NY HELPS) Qualifications:
Two years of full-time clerical experience in a health care setting; or two years of full-time secretarial experience in a health care setting; or two years of full-time patient care experience in a health care setting.
Work Days:
Schedule based on a 40 hour work week. Monday- Friday, Day Shift, hours between 7:30am-5:30pm.
