Eaton Corporation Director Operations in Syracuse, New York

Eaton’s Global Energy Infrastructure Solutions (GEIS) North America Division is seeking a Director Operations NA to join our team. This role will be based in either Syracuse, NY or St Louis, MO.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the President GEIS North America, this is an exciting opportunity to lead part of the operations function, covering multiple sites within our division, related to B Line. The Director Operations is a member of the GEIS North America Leadership Team and will be charged with engaging cross functional resources to lead a collective effort to drive improvement across the sites. This role will create and implement disciplined processes and procedures across all sites, particularly related to safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost of non-conformance (CONC), and will provide leadership to the organization through a proactive and motivating approach.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Develop short and long-term plans in alignment with the GEIS North America strategic plan, manufacturing strategy and annual profit plan to drive high operational performance and financial results. Establish goals and monitor key performance indicators

• Foster a culture focused on Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), driving a zero-incident culture; empower employees and drive accountability for EHS to all levels in the organization

• Cultivate a culture of exceeding customer expectations, ensuring that the organization is highly responsive to customer needs and issues. Work with key stakeholders across Marketing, Sales, Engineering and Operations to meet end-to-end quality and delivery goals

• Ensure effective supplier management and performance in a complex, global supplier environment, including internal and external suppliers, both local and global

• Ensure inventory plans by product family/site; proactively manage inventory to profit plan, driving improved and sustainable processes; execute the Supply Demand Planning (SIOP) process, driving ownership and collaboration across all stakeholder groups

• Develop and execute strategic capital spending plans for operations, drive cost out to meet or exceed profit plan targets

• Continuously improve operations through alignment with the Eaton Business System with a strong focus on driving a Lean Culture utilizing Continuous Improvement Framework (CIF)

• Drive change through improved organizational capability, helping guide recruiting, goal alignment, employee development, performance management and communication

• Ensure motivation and retention of a high performance management team and workforce.

• Set appropriate staffing levels through the profit planning process. Proactively participate in staffing/headcount decisions for key positions in Operations

• Demonstrate a leadership style that perpetuates the Eaton Leadership Attributes and drives intentional cultural change

Position Criteria:

• Must have an extensive background in driving continuous improvement activities to improve operational performance including knowledge of lean management systems and lean tools

• Knowledge of current technologies in manufacturing, EHS, supply chain and quality

• Strong financial and business acumen; experience leading customer-facing discussions

• Working knowledge of Eaton Business System criteria and experience in deployment of the Eaton Business System, or equivalent, and supporting tools

• Strong interpersonal and leadership skill set with demonstrated leadership of major change initiatives

• Ability to manage multiple projects, build effective teams and motivate others

• Strong analytical skills and understanding of problem solving, process control tool and lean management tools (Six Sigma, 8D, Lean, Balanced Score Card, BOS or equivalents)

• Strong communication skills and comfortable facilitating groups and teaching at all levels of the organization. Capable of coaching peers and senior leaders on deployment of lean management systems

• Proven career path demonstrating significant accomplishments and increasing levels of responsibilities

Basic Qualifications:

• Minimum 15 years of experience with progressive levels of accountability and responsibility in supply chain and/or operations management

• Minimum 7 years of experience in a leader of people role

• Preferred 7 years of experience with profit and loss ownership

• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship

Education:

• An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution is required

• An advanced degree is preferred

Compensation:

• Eaton recognizes this role as a critical position within the corporation and will create a compelling package consisting of a base salary, employee incentive compensation and complete benefits

• This position will be either based in Syracuse, NY or St Louis, MO

The expected annual salary range for this role is $195000.03 - $286000.04 a year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program.
