Job Title: Aseptic Technician
Job Description
Provide support to sterile filling and compounding departments by completing parts cleaning, preparing parts and supplies for sterilization; operating autoclave and other cleaning and sterilization equipment; assisting with the preparation of disinfectant solutions; cleaning the aseptic process area (APA) including floors, walls, and equipment; and passing in materials from the nonsterile to sterile APA. Complete all associated logbook entries and batch paperwork. Obtain materials from the warehouse as directed, and process returns. May assist with maintaining uniform stock for cleanroom garments; prepare, ship, and receive cleanroom garments. Assist the packaging department as directed.
Responsibilities
Operate equipment to sanitize/sterilize parts, equipment, and components following standard operating procedures. Set specific parameters in equipment operations, ensure configurations are correct, and check for leaks or other abnormalities. Ensure equipment operates properly and communicate any issues in real time. Complete associated documentation per procedure. May assist in performing required inspection of vials prior to processing and removal of reject vials from workstation per established criteria.
Clean rooms including floors, walls, and equipment, using aseptic techniques. Clean equipment and parts including disassembly/reassembly of parts as directed. Assist with the preparation of antiseptic solutions. Obtain necessary cleaning materials and dispose of used/soiled materials per procedure. Practice aseptic technique in performance of job duties within the APA. Complete required logbook entries and associated batch documentation.
Obtain materials from the warehouse as directed. Check in materials for use. Transfer materials from the nonsterile to sterile APA per procedure. Count, weigh, tag, palletize, and place all returned and rejected items in the appropriate area. May assist with maintaining uniform stock for cleanroom garments; prepare, ship, and receive cleanroom garments. Prepare for shipping all garments to be gamma radiation sterilized by off-site vendor. Complete all wrapping and paperwork pertaining to the shipping and receiving of items and materials to be sterilized. Complete all associated logbook entries and batch paperwork.
Essential Skills
Knowledge of contemporary pharmaceutical practices and procedures.
Knowledge and skill in operating various specialized equipment.
Skill in operating various office equipment such as computer, calculator, facsimile, copy machine, and telephone.
Ability to pay close attention to detail and coordinate various activities simultaneously.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in packaging, filling, production, aseptic techniques, cleanroom environments, packaging machines, and sterile processing.
