ProMedica Health System Associate Vice President - Patient Care Administration - Full Time - Days in Sylvania, Ohio
The AVP of Patient Care and Nursing Services has oversight responsibility of assigned department(s) or service(s). The AVP designs, directs, and implements processes to measures, assess, and improve the performance of hospital wide functions and departments as assigned.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
All duties listed below are essential unless noted otherwise
- Assists CNO:
a. To develop organizational wide patient care programs, policies and procedures that describe how patients’ nursing care needs or patient populations receiving nursing care are assessed, evaluated, and met.
b. To develop and implement the organization’s plans for providing nursing care to those patients requiring nursing care.
c. To participate with governing body, management, medical staff and clinical leaders in the organization’s decision-making structures and processes.
d. To implement an effective ongoing program to measure, assess and improve the quality of nursing care delivered to patients.
Ensure compliance with Joint Commission standards, Ohio Board of Nursing Practice Act and local, State, Federal and other regulatory regulations and standards pertaining to the areas of responsibility.
This position supervises personnel in multiple departments as well as oversight of hospital wide functions.
Assists with revision of nursing practice guidelines, policies and procedures that align with
ProMedica’s professional practice model and evidence-based practices.
Ensures facilitation, implementation, and monitoring of clinical and safety performance standards. Establishes a formal means of accountability for those to whom the duties are assigned.
Coordinates and integrates interdepartmental and intradepartmental services with an emphasis on teamwork, cooperation, and customer service.
Ensures that performance improvement activities are implemented in areas of responsibility.
Actively participates in and with the governing body, hospital leadership, and medical staff in the hospital’s decision-making structures and processes.
Monitors operating budgets and operating efficiency of applicable departments.
Recommends and implements changes to comply with budget and standards.
Participates in planning and implementation of strategic planning.
Approves, monitors, and maintains direct reports’ accountability for operating and capital budgets.
Works to guide standardization of nursing practice across metro region.
Ensures a sufficient number of qualified, competent staff based on patient and procedure volume trends in alignment with operating budget guidelines.
Services as a role model by exhibiting positive customer service behavior.
Reinforces good customer behaviors among employees.
Frequent interaction with medical staff, nurses, board members and other members of administration. Above average poise and tact is required to create a favorable impression and obtain cooperation.
Performs all other duties as assigned. Education: Master of Science in Nursing or a related field
Skills: Exceptional understanding of the functions of various hospital departments, policies and procedures, budgeting process and analysis of financial data. Knowledge of Joint Commission, OSHA regulations – as they pertain to infection control, Medicare/Hospital Conditions of Participation, and ability to understand and interpret federal and state regulations needed either through education or experiences.
Years of Experience: 5-7 years RN experience with at least 3 years in a leadership role. License: Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio Certification: N/A
