LifePoint Health Coordinator - Laboratory in Sylva, North Carolina
Job Summary Coordinates the daily operations of the laboratory to ensure alignment with departmental and organizational objectives.
Essential Functions
Supervises and evaluates assigned staff, handling employee concerns, directing work assignments and completing employee performance appraisals.
Coordinates the day-to-day work activities of assigned staff; completes work schedules; interviews and makes hiring recommendations.
Responds to grievances of patients as well as other customers.
Plans, implements, and monitors Quality Assurance program for the Laboratory.
Works closely with Technical Supervisors to ensure compliance with proficiency testing, quality control, and regulatory agencies.
Works closely with the Laboratory Administrative Director to assist with staying in budget and operational (productivity) parameters.
Ensures the Laboratory operates in compliance with all relevant federal, state and local regulations, and all company policies and procedures.
Serves as Safety Officer for the Laboratory.
Nonessential Functions
Participates in development of new procedures and policies. Implements changes and provides educational updates to staff.
Performs clinical lab duties as needed.
Runs tests and analyzes the results to be reported to the patient, physician or registered nurse.
Operates equipment performing chemical, bacteriological, serological and microscopic procedures for which competency has been verified.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education Bachelor’s degree required.
Required: Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist B.S. (ASCP), or Medical Technologist (AMT/SCP) with B.S. or B.A. degree in Biology, Chemistry or Physical or other field.
Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Licenses: ASCP or AMT required. If not licensed must be registry eligible/passing registry within 1 year from hire date and maintain thereafter.
Minimum Work Experience: 2 years of experience in non-waived testing in the designated specialty/subspecialty area. Prefer 1-2 years of leadership experience.
