Robert Half Accounting Clerk in Sylmar, California

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Accounting Clerk in the construction and contracting industry. This role is based in Sylmar, California. As an Accounting Clerk, you will handle accounts payable, manage digital records inventory, oversee accounts receivable, assist with purchase orders, and handle various administrative tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee Accounts Payable (AP) aging review and AP reconciliation to ensure all vendor accounts are maintained and reconciled timely

• Manage records inventory, reviewing records and optimizing paper documents to a digital format

• Handle Accounts Receivable (AR) aging review and AR reconciliation, ensuring all issues related to non-payment are resolved or documented

• Assist in coordinating and reconciling purchase orders

• Allocate cost codes to all overhead invoices

• Submit all invoices to the Oracle system and/or post batches

• Collect and distribute new hire or revised employee documentation

• Sort incoming mail

• Input union payment invoices and handle void check requests

• Manage online payments for multiple vendors or services

• Order office supplies and handle preliminary notices/liens

• Manage accruals and account reconciliation processes

• Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, and Microsoft Excel for data entry and invoice processing. Requirements • Proven experience in the role of an Accounting Clerk, preferably in the Construction/Contractor industry.

• Proficiency in Account Reconciliation and the management of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).

• Demonstrated ability to handle Billing, Data Entry, and Invoice Processing tasks.

• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel for the manipulation and analysis of financial data.

• Experience working with Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP for accounting and financial management.

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in performing accounting tasks.

• Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex accounting problems.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with other departments and clients.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Willingness to continuously update knowledge on latest accounting practices and industry regulations.
