The Position
Reporting to the Medical Director of Australia & New Zealand, an exciting opportunity has arisen to come and join our high performing medical team!
Your role as the Head of Medical Affairs (HoMA - CRM), ANZ, will be to lead the Medical Affairs organisation within a therapeutic area (franchise), and be responsible for the development of and tactical translation and implementation of Therapeutic area strategy and the Medical Affairs (MA) strategy and implementation.
This role will require you to lead people and medical affairs strategy in 2 markets (Australia & New Zealand) with different regulatory environments. Driving the scientific strategy and execution of solutions for diverse portfolios and stages of product lifecycle, within a very challenging reimbursement environment.
Tasks & Responsibilities
As a member of the therapeutic area leadership team, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of the local therapeutic area strategy.
Work closely and cross-functionally interacting with other relevant Regional Operating Unit (ROPU) partners to develop local strategies and activities which are aligned with and/or support the global ones.
Optimise cross-functional alignment and ways of working between medical affairs and internal business partners, to maximize the efficiency of the Therapeutic Area Medical Leads team.
Ensure medical affairs input during brand planning process is optimised and that medical multi-channel initiatives are seamlessly planned, executed, aligned with strategy and that HCP qualitative insights are obtained to drive continuous improvement
Coach and lead the medical affairs Therapeutic Area Medical Leads to deliver the medico-marketing strategy for Australia & New Zealand
Develop and perform Medical Affairs activities; studies, publications, or programs with external experts in alignment to the planning process, which includes - guiding the implementation of or execution of all local Medical Affairs activities
Develop medical plans for pipeline management and launch readiness, and ensure collaboration with all relevant functions (clinical development, market access, healthcare affairs, patient advocacy relations, etc.) for early engagement with all relevant stakeholders for product and market optimisation in preparation for launch.
Ensure that appropriate procedures for release of local promotional materials, medical materials and publications are in place and adhered to.
Ensure adherence to Boehringer Ingelheim and International compliance requirements – as well as local legislation
Assume a strategic role in supporting and where needed deputising for the medical director in guiding and advising the various medical functions
Requirements
MD and/or PHD and/or Masters Medicine and/or Pharmacology and/or Biology
Leadership experience in medical affairs is required
5 years minimum in a pharmaceutical medical affairs/medicine role
Sound clinical and scientific experience, with experience in leading and managing teams in pharmaceutical industry
Excellent communication skills (verbal, listening, negotiation and influencing), motivational, and leadership skills
Natural and approachable leader with a drive for continuous improvement
Experience in challenging the business to innovate and grow
Able to work with other professionals and people from a wide variety of backgrounds
