Microsoft Corporation Senior Software Engineer--Win365 in Suzhou, China

Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) have recently been recognized as a leader in the inaugural Gartner Magic Quadrant™ for Desktop as a Service (DaaS). We are seeing tremendous customer pull from on premise Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) customers that want to modernize and move from on prem VDI to the cloud. Windows 365 and AVD combined are already a billion-dollar business today and we are seeing rapid growth in revenue and usage, this is one of the key horizon 2 growth areas in our Experiences and Devices (E+D) business. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team.

As a Senior Software Engineer in our team, you will get an amazing opportunity to contribute to both business and technology. You will be a key member of our engineering team, drive full end to end engineering cycle of critical scenario, collaborate with internal partner teams and will be accountable for shipping service offerings that succeeds with our customers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead discussions for the architecture of products/solutions, creates architecture proposals by testing design hypotheses, and helps to refine code plans. Develops design documents for designs or User Stories and determines the technology that will be leveraged and how it will interact.

  • Deliver building the necessary infrastructure of a reliable, scalable, secure infrastructure solution for cloud device platform business scenarios. Identifying opportunities to optimize infrastructure by the modern underlying Azure backend technologies.

  • work across organizations, collaborating with internal partner teams such as Azure Compute, Core OS, Microsoft Security and Identity team, and others.

  • raise the technical bar, maintain a data and results driven culture, and nurture a high-performance team to build world-class experiences for W365 and AVD end users, ITPros, partners, and operations teams.

  • get to extend your knowledge of cloud compute, hypervisors, desktop virtualization, streaming technologies, and other technical areas including cloud-based management suites.

  • be part of a team designing fundamental capabilities involving AKS, storage, data, networking, and streaming protocols (such as Remote Desktop Protocol) for our core products to enhance the value to our customer base

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience building and shipping apps and/or services.

  • Excellent technical design skills and proven ability to drive large scale system designs for commercial projects or products.

  • Fluent English communication skill

Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: 

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check : This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science

  • OR related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript,

  • OR Python

  • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Ambitious, self-motivated

  • Agile, can-do attitude and great at dealing with ambiguity

  • Strong coding, debugging and problem-solving skills

  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming language paradigms

  • Keen interest in mentoring early in career engineers

  • Ability to generate clarity in ambiguous situations

  • Ability to quickly ramp up, understand complex problems, and create solutions across many products

  • Great communication skills to collaborate cross-group and work effectively within the team

  • Expertise in AKS

  • Expertise in developing large scale services

  • Expertise in OS hypervisor
