The Job:

  • Design validation testing for proposed supplier changes with the abrasives engineering testing lab in Suzhou, China.

  • Coordinate sample builds and testing to support the validation and qualification of products from multiple suppliers using SBD standard practices and procedures.

  • Evaluate product performance by performing hands-on testing using standard and custom power tools and procedures.

  • Analyze test data, draw conclusions, determine next steps, and communicate to internal stakeholders and/or external suppliers.

  • Generate test reports to be shared internally and externally and report out status.

  • Provide recommendations for qualification together with Engineering SME.

  • Develop root cause analysis for test outputs not meeting performance goals/CTQs.

  • Create and maintain engineering documentation such as BOMs, 2D Drawings, Test Plans, SOPs, Cost info, and Specifications.

  • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of multiple projects and scope, ensuring project documentation is complete, current, and stored appropriately.

  • Work with all requestors to establish sample priorities.

  • Practice best time management techniques to ensure project schedules are met; creating project schedules and action trackers.

  • Act as a liaison between Strategic sourcing, engineering SME, test lab, and supplier.

The Person:

  • Excellent project management skills including ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on a “hands on” approach.

  • General knowledge in the area of metallurgy.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

  • Ability to attend regular (occasional) meetings in a global timeframe.

  • Strong computer skills

  • Self-motivated and energetic with a results-oriented attitude.

  • Ability to self-manage while working as part of a collaborative team.

  • Ability to quickly adapt and acquire new skills in a fast-changing environment.

  • Demonstrated leadership, project management, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent problem solving skills.

  • Organization and time management skills.

  • Comfortable working with a wide range of people.

  • Preferred:

  • Experience in product design/development, preferably in the abrasives field.

  • 3-5 years in related Product Engineering experience.

  • 3D CAD/CAE exposure (CREO and/or Catia preferred).

  • Familiarity with EN, ANSI standards.

  • Windchill or similar PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related engineering discipline required (Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Metallurgical Engineering preferred).

  • Preferred:

  • At least three years of experience in project management, engineering, systems design, or other related field.

Physical Requirements :

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
