Job Summary

We are currently seeking a Summer 2025 Electrical Engineering intern at Surry Power Station in Surry, VA.

This individual will work in the System Engineering department. The selected individual will work as part of the System Engineering group focusing on monitoring equipment on a systems level for such systems as Instrumentation and Controls Systems such as Control Rod Drive and Digital Control Systems as well as Electrical Systems such as Large Oil Cooled Power Transformers.

Activities will include monitoring and trending of system performance, equipment inspections, evaluation of component performance, system walkdowns, corrective actions and component troubleshooting.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • Experience with Microsoft Office products is desired.

  • Must be able to follow instructions and be a team player.

  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Solid engineering skills, commensurate with grade level.

  • Good communication skills, technical writing skills, and computer skills.

  • An inquisitive nature, an ability to follow written and verbal directions, and strong professional ethics.

Education Requirements

Must be a student studying Engineering (not Engineering Technology), Electrical Engineering at an ABET accredited 4-year college or university and have a GPA of at least 3.0 and be a rising sophomore or junior with a planned graduation date between December 2026 and May 2027.
