Job Summary The Foreman coordinates operations and oversee workers at the production sites. As the liaison between workers and management, the foreman will be the key person in charge of overseeing the completion of the project with a keen awareness of material expenses, staffing requirements, and employee safety. Responsibilities Direct supervisor for all production personnel performing work within the specific division. Mentor, manage and train employees and contractors Responsible for ensuring information and materials are available for planned work. Responsible for maintaining an adequate labor force to meet production schedule. In conjunction with HR and management, maintains shop floor discipline of division personnel. Assigns tasks as appropriate to meet schedule. Responsible for implementation and enforcement of product quality standards. Implementation and enforcement of company processes and policies. Maintains facility equipment and tools in safe and operable condition. Responsible for shop cleanliness within their areas. Maintains adequate and current copies of production drawings on the shop floor. Responsible to meet with and coordinate with production engineering to understand specifications and drawings for each project and ensure compliance. Participate in customer meeting, and on-sight inspections. Supports production work by hands-on duties as required. Required Skills & Abilities Extensive knowledge of construction best practices, equipment maintenance, and use, and OSHA guidelines Understanding of use and maintenance of diverse boat systems Knowledge in either electrical, hydraulic and engine systems or in aluminum welding fabrication Ability to read drawings, plans, and blueprints and convey this information to others Excellent organizational and leadership skills Ability to communicate and report effectively Aptitude in math and strong problem-solving abilities Knowledge of basic computer skills Qualifications High school diploma, GED or similar required. Certification in a skilled trade (electrician, carpenter) preferred. 4+ years\' experience in ship repair/construction required. Must be eligible for a TWIC Card. Must have or be eligible for a driver license. Physical requirements Position requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, crawling, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, overhead work, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. Must be able to work in tight, confined spaces, such as accessing manholes, and awkward positions for long periods of time. Must be able to conduct inside and outside work in all temperatures. Use of manufacturing equipment. Work in environment where harmful dusts, fogs, fumes, gases, etc. might be present and the use of a respirator may be required. Ability to work in inclement weather conditions/areas that at times are not environmentally controlled. Able to move/lift/pull/push 50 lbs.
