Mercedes-Benz Research and Development North America, Inc. has the following position available in Farmington Hills, MI:
Sr. Engineer, OBD Calibration Coordination (CIPQL): Perform engine OBD calibration development and OBD coordination for Mercedes-Benz and AMG electrified powertrains. Ensure compliance of powertrain OBD calibration with regulations in target markets (global). Coordinate and align OBD implementation and validation activities within Mercedes-Benz and AMG along company-internal and regulatory requirements. Calibrate OBD monitoring systems for gasoline powertrains (mild and full hybrid) to comply with different global emission/OBD regulations (specifically Error Management and Generic Scan Tool output). Coordinate and align OBD development topics, issue resolution plans, program timeline updates, and OBD documentation for all OBD relevant controllers in an electrified powertrain. Perform validation of OBD monitors on engine and chassis dynamometer as well as in vehicles on test drives and on HiL/SiL systems, analyze monitor completion ratios (IUMPR). Develop and manage OBD related calibration variants supporting multiple vehicle variants and multiple target markets. Specify, develop, or adapt powertrain OBD monitors as required to meet targets. Support specification, procurement or manufacturing of test parts for OBD monitors (e.g. aged limit catalyst, etc.). Interface with internal and external partners to perform PVE testing, DEMO preparation.
Minimum Requirements: Master's degree or foreign degree equivalent in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Management, or related field, plus three (3) years of experience in the job offered, or in a related occupation.
Special Requirements: Education or experience must include:
- On-Board Diagnostic systems, error management, and scan tool communication in electrified powertrains with distributed controller architecture.
- Electrified powertrains (mild and full Hybrid).
- Calibration development environments (ETAS INCA, Vector CANape) and other OBD development tools.
- OBD calibration in a production automotive environment, focused on operation and evaluation of development vehicles.
- Emission after-treatment systems, drive cycles, CAN/Flex Ray networking systems, statistical data analysis.
- HiL and SiL testing methods.
- Emission testing procedures/standards, vehicle drivability evaluation, troubleshooting, and Design of Experiments (DoE).
Developing and maintaining scripts in MATLAB or Python.
