As the Tech-Lead Manager of our dynamic group, you will have the unique and rewarding opportunity to lead and craft upcoming research directions in the field of multimodal foundation models that will inspire the future Apple products. You will be guiding a team of highly accomplished and deeply technical scientists and engineers to develop state-of-the-art solutions for challenging problems. You will be touching aspects of language and multimodal foundation models, from data acquisition, data curation to modeling, evaluation, and deployment. Description

We are seeking a Tech-Lead Manager to lead our efforts in the field of multi-modal foundation models. In this role you will: - Manage, mentor and build out a team of highly capable research scientists - Understand the capability gap based on existing experiences and build roadmap to address those - Craft technical vision for the team - Work cross functionally with data/infra teams to deliver high quality datasets for various stages of training. Our team has an excellent track record of conducting high-quality research and delivering impactful machine learning technologies often leveraging multiple sensors. Example of such products include FaceID, 2D & 3D perception stacks in iOS devices, VisionPro, and Apple's parametric 3D scene understanding technology called RoomPlan. Our focus is on building experiences that harness the power of our sensing hardware as well as large foundation models. In this role, you will lead a diverse, fast-moving team, driving innovation and overseeing the development of cutting-edge AI technologies in the field of multimodal foundation models. Your leadership will help develop the next generation of our reasoning engines.

Minimum Qualifications

Key Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional machine learning engineering experience in the industry.

  • 2+ years of experience leading teams or projects that design and deliver complex ML solutions.

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives with a significant impact on product direction.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong hands-on experience in the domain of large multimodal models.

  • A strong academic and publication record is a plus (CVPR, ICCV/ECCV, NeurIPS, ICML).

  • Deep understanding of large foundation models.

  • In-depth knowledge of the multi-task, multi-modal machine learning domain.

  • Familiarity with the challenges associated with training large models and working with large datasets.

  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate the results of analyses.

BS and a minimum of 10 years relevant industry experience

  • At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $170,700 and $300,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs.
